Some of you know this person, Leo lent his car to a friend and this is what he done to it  .
He said he was only doing 35 Mph but seeing the car the this morning, that wasn't 35 Mph. The driver hit a tree and was uninsured.
I'm sure Mark will be along to explain it better with more detail.

The BMW badge on the bonnet was near on perfect condition, considering the damage.

Fuck. Me.
That car was spotless too, Leo had given that a right load of TLC.. what a shit thing to have happen - uninsured as well...
Mark, if Leo needs a car (depends if he can borrow any long-time from work I guess) then let me know and I'll get the blue one MoT'd so he can borrow it. (Erm, he'll need to be insured, mind ) I need a couple of bits for it, so there's an easy way for him to say thanks if he wants to, but as long as he's mobile and can get to work then I'm not especially bothered about that.

Dan,thanks for the offer but he has got his ex mates car to spunk about in.As Robert said Leo's ex mate will be paying him £3000 for the damage,so at least he can buy another car within the next couple of weeks.I must admit I didn't pick the car up from the scene, but recognised it straight away and assumed Leo had been driving :o .Anyway Robert has now got a proper bootlid and clear rear lights as a result of this,so at least some good has come out of it ;) .BTW what do you all think of the new jack? It lifts anything,at any angle no problem at all :D :D :D

Nasty. 35 mph into a tree would do that easy. BMW front ends are crap.
poor Leo that car WAS a good example .
my brother done the same thing with his mates BMW.

If there was a prize for the most centred squared-on hit, he'd win it
What a shame :(

IF he ran in to a big (ish) tree at 35 mph it would do that much damage without any problems, no give in a tree, so the car will absorb all the impact,
shows how well the crumple zone worked though.......

At least his mate is actually paying for the damage. incidents like this can really test your friendship:) Leo can think of it as if he sold the car for 3k and start on something new

The tree must have been doing at least 100MPH if he was doing 35mph:eek: hope all ends well and he gets an even better car:)

Ill think you will find 35mph and a tree would do that to an e36. Maybe even slower. The survival rate of 35+mph accidents in e36 is very poor.
Cue all the people ''i crashed mine at xxx mph as was ok''
Crashes always seem when you have them to be at a higher speed than what the impact speed in reality is.

Trust me guys,I do shit loads of cars everyday and that isn't typical 35mph damage. If he had been doing 35mph prior to the accident, speed would have scrubbed off when he ran over the kerb and also tried to brake.Estimates by the Police at the scene put prior speed being around 75mph.Aside from that the tree was massive,if he hadn't hit the tree the car would have ended up in an office block, where I think the outcome would have been very different

Oh yes i agree, but this could easily be a 35mph ''impact'' speed which is what i said before!
