Hi guys, my annual service is due but I am struggling to find a honest garage that is cheap (quite important). Basically, I want some kind of a stamp and a reciept so that I can retain a traceable service record, i.e. new owner can phone up to confirm...Obviously I am not going to the stealer as it costs too much and also the previous owner of my car started going to non-BMW garage ever since the car was 3 y/o.
Anyway, if you can recommend a good/cheap garage who can do an annual service, stamp my book etc. then can you guys let me know? I live in Walton/Weybridge so anywhere like Chertsey, Staines, Woking area will be ideal. So far, a nationwide franchised garage near me has quoted 160 all in with full synth oil...

I was quoted 510 quid for the same service by Coopers Cobham so it's basically down to how much the service is going to cost me. I know how little work they do for a 'full' service:( If I had the 'magic' stamp, I'll service the car myself!

I went to William Jacks in Sunningdale for an Inspection 2 with my 325 before I sold it and they charged me £124 all in, including a litre of spare oil in a leather wallet for the boot. Coopers at Cobham are one of the well-known rip-off monkeys, I wouldn't go there if the next nearest was Glasgow. I know a 1 is more expensive than a 2, but it's worth a couple of phone calls to check with other dealers. £510 is extortionate for even an Insp1 on a non-M engine.

The more you mod the cheaper it is to service your car. Dealers will not have any parts from the factory to replace what you have on your car......LOL
I remember when my supercharged 330 went in for Inspection 2, they can't change the engine oil, can't change air filter, can't touch the spark plugs, told them not to touch my brakes (aftermarket pads, fluid and lines), they don't even want to take the car out for a test drive. All they charged me for was the pollen filter and tightened my handbrake. £124.75 for Inspection 2 [hiya ....but I got the stamp [cool

Quite true Nick, all I want is a stamp as I can do whatever these guys do...these so called 60-point checks are just a big pile of $hit because they all claim to have checked everything but they never do anything. maybe these guys check by saying something like...'has the car got an engine....yes...tick...has the car got front left tyre...yes...tick....are we ripping off another customer...yes...tick...'.
but suppose it's not fair to assume that all garages are like this, but my dad (who's been in the trade for well over 3 decades) honestly recons' more than half of all garages are just a bunch of unqualified cowboys. wonder if my dad's a cowboy too...? ;)
