Looking for some help folks

Had a problem for well over a year now. Basically car runs rough/missfires when started from cold. Last for approx. 1-2 miles. Its had in the region of 5-6 coils on the same cylinder over this period of time!

Tried more than one dealer and the 3rd has acknowledged the fault.

Dealer has had it quite a few times, some times for a week at a time. Collected it this morning and it still the same, again. They have said in the past that neither themselves or BMW UK know what it is BMW did tell them to change the control unit for the coils. Cant remember what its called though. Dealer kept mentioning the possibility of a new engine.

Basically i want to contact someone at BMW to find out what can be done as this is really begining to drag out. Already extended the warranty last August with this fault being the main reason. Dont want that to be the main reason again for me paying to renew.

Thanks

Could always try asking for Mr Jim O'Donnell, he was in charge down there last I heard, I doubt you'll get through but they may take you seriously if you drop that name. ;)

You need to;

1/ write (don't phone) to BMW customer services, and advise them of the problem with your car.

2/ your letter needs to include the dealerships that have carried out remedial works associated with this fault, and what they have done to your car, this will set a president that the dealership has acknowledged that you have a legitimate fault with your.

3/ your letter needs to detail the dates that all the works were carried out.

4/ Your letter needs to state that the fault still exists and that you would like their intervention as the above dealers have been unable to resolve the problem, and tell them that the dealer told you that you need a new engine that will really get their attention, because it is unlikely that you do and that you probaly have a fault which has already been covered by a BMW T.B. above all be factual and business like but not aggressive.

BMW GB have technical trouble shooters who go to dealerships if required.

At the bottom of your letter include "This letter has been sent by recorded delivery to ensure safe receipt"

@Lucky Bob....I will write to them as you say, thanks for your pointers. I dont intend to be aggresive towards them as that probably wont get me anywhere.

Thanks again
