Been through the CAI and remapping options, but have decided that this is definitely my preferred route to proper increased power.

Anyhow, been looking at prices at Infinitas and the kit alone is very reasonable. Problem is I have just moved to Aberdeen and whilst still settling in I am not at this stage looking to make long drives to Germany or CA Automotive to get them to fit it. Though I haven't ruled the option out entirely.

So call me nuts but I am thinking of fitting it myself. I am mechanically very experienced though not specifically on BMs or cars, but with instructions (This simply wouldn't be possible with out them) I am pretty sure I could do a professional job at fitting this to my car, given what I have read about what it involves anyway.

So I am looking for some thoughts here.

Am I nuts? [hmm

I'd really like it to be my own work too

I am logging off now for the night. But will be back again tomorrow eve to see if everyone has laughed me off :D

If your going the Sk+ route, then yes i would install it myself. Anything higher then no, get a proffesional, these things can be a nightmare if things go wrong.....trust me.

Plus just had quote from Direct line for insurance to cover, CSL reps 19", dropped, and S/C for £840 F/C protected :D Leaves me with more dosh left over than I had first expected.

Must be living out here in the middle of nowhere that does it!

The SK+ kits comes with full fitting instructions and technical support if required, these kits are designed to be bolt on so the are well digramed and instructions are very clear. The whole install shouldnt take more than a day.

Plus were only a phone call away just in case, to be honest though I dont think that your gona have any problem. A bit of patince and a few cups of tea and its all good ;)

Rich, give me your email and I'll send you the installation instructions for the SK+ ;)

It's in German but you can cut and paste onto Bablefish ;)

Id say allow at least 2 days, only infinitas (or Alex;))can do it in such little time as they do this day in, day out. If you haven't done anything like it before, then the instuctions can sometimes be somewhat confusing.

Whattttt?? C'mon Lee. With Nick's Asda tools Tin's heat-gun and Teddy's mayonnaise, we can install this in around 4 hours I reckon ;)

True, but this does depend on how much you paid for you 330. I have looked at prices for M3s, but its gonna be well over £20k I would expect at the moment. I got my car relatively cheaply so it would in fact cost me alot more to change to an M3.

that aside I fancy having a go myself, and I quite like the idea of having a certain sleeper element to the car, CSL reps aside.

Nick- thanks for your offer, I will. Still got to bite the bullet. Haven't got a drive or garage to do the work on, its all gonna be street based, if only a quiet street.

Gonna get a wireless laptop to stick in the car so that I can ask questions and check info online as I do it.

Actually getting quite excited now. [banana

Let's put it this way, when it comes to supercharging your car, it's not the end product that's important, it's the adventure you take to achieve the end product that's attractive.

Hence why a lot of modders sell their cars once they've done everything they want to do to them. A lot of 'normal' people think we are mad but it takes one to understand the other ;)

Well my folding mirror switch turned up today ready for my mirrors from Teddy :D

I want to do the CDV removal coz I don't like the clutch all that much at the moment, I want more precise control. Plus I think I am going to have to fit a clutch stop. The travel on the pedal is pissing me off. Nick, you mentioned once about both to these issues I think I have the link to the CDV do you have the clutch stop thread info? thanks :D

Will definitely consider dropping the car once I've got some wheels.
