Crap, went out to the car this morning and the rear offside pilot sport is totally flat. A quick look found that the tyre had a nail in it but looked to be in a repairable position - about 1.5 inches from the sidewall :) . Swapped onto one of my spare 18" wheels and took it to my tyre shop and they confirmed it could be repaired :) but then pointed out the lack of tread on the tyre :( . It only has 1.4mm left. I am an idiot for not checking them regularly but the pilot sports have only lasted me 7k miles hence not feeling the need to check the tread depth :( :( :( .
New set of flaken 452s ordered for tomorrow - sorry Dan, I would have got them from Maybank but I need them asap and it is too far to come and collect. Best price I could get them fwith fitting was £525 so not a disaster for 2x 235/35/19 and 2x 265/30/19 - shows how good Maybanks price is though guys.
Got my favourite tyres going back on now so I am happy.
I would have checked the car over the day before going to the ring but wouldn't have had time to do the tyres so this puncture has saved my arse big time.
Check your tyres guys - I will make a point to do this much more often now ;) .
Nice one Paul. I got a fresh set of Falkens too (off Dan for a wicked price) but sized upto 275 on the 9.5j and 245 up front cos they're so damn tight fitting. The Falken 275s look like oem 255s!
Anyway, see you in a week and a bit ... :)

Paul, where are you getting your tyres from?
May be out of your way but Bracknell Tyres have always been damn competitve.

i'm running FK 452, 275 on 10J rear lol, they are gonna be a nightmare to take off
I enquired after 285s for my 9.5Js but Falken dont go that big... however the Falken rubber compound is very soft so removal/fitting shouldn't be any issue (I have had numerous dealings with RFTs on OEM wheels before where most tyre shops have struggled but managed to remove/fit eventually - and they require real effort).
Sorry for not being able to take your call Paul, was on a client call. Anyway, glad you super-sized the order, they'll soon be down to 1.4mm again as the Falkens don't half wear away quickly (as I have learned) :D

i bought a decibel meter last weekend, and measuring it according to the website - the limit being 95dB - my car is only 92.9dB, so i should be ok :D

After taking the advice of Tariq and Nick I got my 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 452s this afternoon. I forgot what a difference the bigger width would do to the cars stance. When I changed wheels I put the OEM 255 and 225 tyres onto the 9.5 and 8.5 wide rims, they did look stretched even though the OEM rear wheel is 9.5.
So, the before and after pics:

The front and rear arches are filled out much better now and the car is not running any spacers so it is just how I want it to look. When the suspension is compressed there isn't too much clearance but enough to not worry about rubbing so a good compromise.
That's much more like it.... nice one Paul...
Nice job Paul and good job the flat happened...

No reason not to rag the crap out of the M3 next weekend then ...... :D
I must say, since last Sat after I put on the FK-452s, they surprised me. They are really superb tyres. Grip fantastically and a lot quieter during crusing. For that price, the FK-452s are no brainer really. Even if they don't last as long as other tyres, I'll happily change them every 6-8 months

Have to totally agree with this. I have always run F1s but decided to run 452s on the RCs and they are superb for the £61 I paid for each.

Exactly! For what I paid for the entire set, I couldn't even get a pair of rear Goodyears, let alone Michelins.

I have been preaching about FK452s for over a year now and quite often get a few doubters but those that approach them with an open mind and actually buy a set are always delighted with them. I honestly can't fault them and at these prices are a damn bargain.

had some Hawk brake pads fitted today, fitted my front clear indicator bulbs and had a general check over and everything was perfect. The tech gave the car a road test - his first time driving it which he loved! - and on the way home, if i turn left very quickly, there is a rubbing/hissing noise from the o/s/f wheel area. Car going back to work tomorrow to have a look and see what it is.
Fingers crossed it is nothing serious otherwise i won't be going!
cheers
