Keep his details. Looking at his feedback he's sells nothing but GTEC meters. I'm sure he'll be back very soon.

I meant to ask how the unit measures the speed etc. It can't 'sense' the speed without wiring it somewhere can it? I mean, how can it tell how fast you're going...GPS technology for 32quid???

Ah ha.....more listed. Where the heck does he get all his GTEC meters  ....and at that price.
Mitsu, the unit senses G-Force and translate it into numbers.

Had one of these toys for a while now. It showed my 325 0-60 as 7.01 and I only ran one 1/4 mile time and that got in at 15.26 seconds with a speed of 94.5mph. My 330i has recorded a 0-60 of 6.18 but so far I have not done a 1/4 run. Both cars had a full tank of gogo juice and the 330i was spinning in second and it was run on a slight incline so I bet my bile duct I can crack 6 seconds in the old girl :D .
Pic of the time in the 330

And a video to prove it (330 again):
Right click and save as for the vids. Vid 1 (the 6.18 run) is approx 3mb and vid 2 (the timer proof) is 750kb. (need quicktime)

It uses an accelerometer which is a precision cut (laser) piece of silicon that is in some kind of chemical sandwich. This is the technology that is used in a multitude of performance meters that most of the very well known magazines use.
===============================================
Taken from the GTech website:
How does it work?
The heart of the Gtech Pro is a precision silicon accelerometer. An accelerometer is a sensor that measures acceleration, also known as G-Force. G-Force is what's keeping you in your seat as you are reading these words and if it wasn't for the seat you would be accelerating to the ground at 1G (32 feet per second per second).
Gtech Pro measures your speed and distance traveled by integrating acceleration over time. Basically, if you know how fast you are accelerating for a certain time period you'll know how much your speed has changed after that time period. So, if you start of from zero speed then you'll know what your speed is after every time period. These time periods are very small (2.5 milliseconds) and that's how Gtech Pro maintains its accuracy.
Distance is measured in the same fashion, if you know how fast you are going for a certain time period you will know what is the distance traveled during that time period.
Gtech Pro also measures delivered Horsepower, sometimes called Rear Wheel Horsepower. This horsepower includes the loss of power through the drivetrain which is usually 10-15%. The formula for Horsepower is speed times acceleration times the weight of the vehicle.
Our accelerometer is one of the best in the world. It starts out as a 1/8 inch silicone cube. Then it's laser sliced in to a sandwich with the critical mass in the middle. It sits in the specially designed silicone gel with dampening characteristics tailored for automotive dynamics. On top of all this there is a special accelerometer enclosure with grounded metal layer for EMI shielding. At Tesla Electronics Inc. they believe that the best way to insure accuracy is to get a good, clean signal from the outside world and that's why the accelerometer in the Gtech Pro costs more than all other parts put together.

Having researched this particular model as well as others it seems to be fairly accurate to other manufacturers figures as well. Considering BMW are always a little conservative in their data then I think the results I have got are good. Also, quite a few guys on E46fanatics with 325i/ci have run mid to low 15s in a 1/4 mile supported with timing slips.

Mine's just turned up as well. Been out playing with it for a bit, pretty easy to use once you've read the instructions.
Its not stopped raining here but went out and had a few blasts down the road. Managed to get a 0 - 60 ... 6.3 secs and 1/4 mile .... 15.1 secs 96 MPH. Not to bad i suppose considering the roads are really wet.
when did u guys order yours? still waiting for mine, since sunday :(

i think it only asks for weight if you want to work out the hp. Other than that you just turn it on select whether you want 0-60 etc and go and the thing does the rest on its own.

When you are setting it up for speed runs just make sure that the unit is set up level, it is explained in the instructions, to ensure that the times you get are as accurate as possible.
