Prefer the sound of the eisenman personaly from the vids.

I couldn't believe the difference wen i drove the m5. It was like i was a teenager again. I know its kinda an old mans car compared to the m3, but the drive is completely different.

Its all about maturity though aint it Nick. When your average hooligan pulls up at the lights in his M3 next to the gorgeous blond in her convertable lotus elise, she looks across at him and thinks, well he's obviously got a few quid but he must have a small dick due to the blingness of his wheels. Whereas a Merc or M5 comes accross as a completly different story. I think Eclectic is the word. Lol. I can't even spell it!!!

nice one! I thought Avus blue was stopped in 2000 though?

Post soe pics up! They are seriously addictive machines indeed. I have the eisenmann race with susperspring x-pipe and it is absolutely superb! Best for the M5 in my opinion, although there are so many combinations to choose from!

cheers and enjoy.

Whats the score with the sat nav? Some M5's i'v seen advertised there a tv as well.

mine has nav and tv. would have thought that if you have oem sat nav then it should also have the oem tv tuner as well. It will only work with the handbrake on, unless that has been cancelled of course.

i have found them oem tv pretty pants, obviously depends on where you are at the time. One of the guys on BMWLand has fitted a digital TV tuner to his M5 and it really does make a huge difference and is worthwhile looking into getting one from eBay.

did you get it from a BMW dealers?

cheers and post some pics!

Congrats. ;)

I still miss my e39 M5, superb allround car that does everything well.

I had Supersprint Headers & Tubi Rumore System on my car along with Tubi Resonated X Pipe, awesome sound with zero resonance/drone when cruising.

Does anyone know any rough prices? And wot do you think the first mods should be? Maybe a remapp, induction???

eisenmann race exhaust i think is about £1200 for the back boxes, and the supersprint x-pipe is about £250-300. Give Roy a shout, he sorted mine out for me and i absolutely love it!

cheers

felstmiester, did you PX the 330? If so what did they offer you and did you sell it with all the mods? I'm going to be selling up soon so interested in the PX.

Let it go as it was mate, apart from the charger and got £8,500. So by the time i'v sold the charger i got decent money.

Here's my....TUBI (http://www.beastpower.com/products/tubi/sound/tubirumore-accel.mpeg)

The first E39 M5 in the UK to have the TUBI Rumore... and proud of it to this day... :D

Here's some more...

And wot do you think the first mods should be?
Exhaust, exhaust, exhaust ....... The E39 M5 can really sing and aftermarket pipes should be your first mod :D

If you drive your car very hard or if you track it, BBKs should be your 2nd mod (OEM M5 brakes are like pancakes once hot! Not good for a near 2 tonne performance saloon).

I wouldn't bother with remap or induction kit. Gains are negligible, plus how much more do you want from a 5.0L V8? With a good exhaust, you wouldn't even need to hear the induction noise.

Congrats on your new M5, a classic beauty.
Exhaust first - then BBK's with wheels & springs as you will love the sound but need to slow down a lot quicker after listening to it full song in any tunnel ! ;) :D Lol

Actually your first mod should be a Short Shift Kit, probably the cheapest as well.

Also seeing its a 2000 model, you should get the 2001 facelift headlights, and the upgrade to the Teddy CCFLs.

This is what I would (did) do:

1*. UUC EVO 3 Short shift kit
2*. Rogue DSSR (or UUC WSR) - weighted shifter rod for SSK
3*. CCFLs
4*. TUBI Rumore Exhaust
5. Stoptech BBK (fronts only is fine)
6. SAT NAV Retrofit
7. Kelleners racing spring kits (Used oem shocks for best road use comfort)
8. You could skip 7 and go KW Variant 3 suspension.
9. Eibach Anti-roll bar kit with upgraded brackets
10. Dinan struts if you fancy it.

* - denotes a MUST

Hope that helps you... and better start saving up.... ;)

And thats coming from a man's point of view.....
BUT..... I wouldnt think that.... And im a woman :)

As for the exhaust.. Eisenmann

I've run Hayward and Scott and then went to Eisenmann with X-pipe , they both sound v similar externally, the big difference is H&S costs about £550 or thereabouts, that leaves you room for all the other bits too.

I also found the Eisenmann boomy inside the cabin in comparison to H&S, I actually went back to H&S for that reason.

There is a group buy underway at the moment on M5Board -

Or give Ian a call at H&S
