I have been wanting some kind of DVD setup that is truely portable, need to be able to remove things due to the car getting parked in dodgy areas at all times of the night every four weeks when I am on call.

So, that ruled out fitted headrest monitors which was my first thought. I was going to get the BMW nav retrofit for the TV function but as I have tomtom on my pda I ruled it out as an unnecessary expense.

I found a company called centurion that make a system that includes 2x 6.5 headrwest monitors that fit over the headrests so thay can be removed with no trace whenever I need them out. Was concerned about the quality as it isn't the most expensive solution but thought what the hell.

As my interior is black it looks okay, I was worried that it would look seriously cheap and compared to the flush fitting solutions it is no where near as smart but it does exactly what I need it to do.

It turned up on tuesday and I plugged it in and played gone in 60 seconds. The quality is awesome for the price, as below:

I also saw another gadget that interested me alot, so, i got one from fleabay:

It is a DVB-T digi box 8-) :

Looking good Mystic, I supposed you can play different DVDs on each of the headrest screen too, stop the kids from fighting over which to watch ;)

cool mate. ive got the soundlinx dvb box hooked up to my alpine, there really good units and surprisingly good picture quality when on the move. only problem ive found is the need to retune if you enter a different freeview area- so much better than analog tv tuners though!

Got it all off fleabay.

The dvd player and headrest monitors were £165 (150 + 15p&p) , all brand new :D , and the DVB-T box was £100. A top solution for bugger all cash ;) .

I have ordered an extra long set of monitor cables from RS so I can hide them in the trim somehow and keep it as neat as possible. I have the option of hardwiring rather the fag lighter but I really want it totally removable in minutes so will stick with the fag ligher, still relatively concealed though. I am building a chassis for the dvd player and digi box to sit in but that can be unbolted in a minute.

My DVB-T box came with a larger than I would like aerial. I guess it is better for reception but where have you put yours? As it has a very powerful magnet mount I was going to put it in the boot and attach it upside down at the rear on part of the chassis under the rear deck but I guess the reception will be toast. Any ideas?

Apparantly it was tested at 200kph on a train and the reception stays pretty stable :D .

Thats an excellent solution. Cheap and fully removeable in minutes. I have been thinking about the whole DVD and monitors thing, but I just do not want to get rid of my Nak headunit. Have to start thinking of solutions [hmm .

just put screens in your sun visors and headrests. You can get get covers made for the headrests in matching leather and noone will have a clue ;).

That's a pretty cool setup. May get that for the wifey.

Getting my mum to make some cotton headrest covers this weekend. Can't believe how paranoid I am now about security with the screens in
