Several 335i/335d drivers were already blown away by a Corsa with NOS.
I do not see why M3 drivers could not be blown away by this car (with NOS. another engine, suspension, .......................) :D

Having had an RS Turbo in quite a high state of tune, i would say that particular car with that spec would not beat a stock 335 d/i.

with the spec shown i would hazard a guess at 185bhp at the wheels at 24psi but just not for too long !! the car weighs less than a escort rs turbo and i reckon it would keep up with m3's

during building my rst i had a 1600 lump with a T2 cam, pace intercooler, filter and exhaust and run 18psi and i was around the 185bhp !! until it went bang lol then the big lump came and the big power !!

Keep up with an M3 from a rolling start to about 90ish yes.

My Old RS Turbo Fiesta was running 230bhp. But i think she would only live with an M3 to 110-115ish. I dont know i never tried but guestimating.

What was your big lump and power mate? Any pics of your old RST?!

***sorry to hijack the thread***

here she is :

running 1900 american cvh, piper 285t2, verneer pulley, stage 3 head, T3 60trim turbo with .48 exhaust housing, custom ecu, pace intercooler, mongoose 3" system, other bits and pieces (the fact it was stripped out with two seats and a chrome cage) with a quaife close ratio straight cut box and diff - this would eat my E36 vert for breakfast (my e36 was a M3 evo with 100hp nos) - we estimated 250bhp but the person who tuned and created the engine reckoned it was more but i like to say its less and beat people who quoted more lol

correct me if I am wrong here but it doesn't matter how much BHP your RS turbo cosworth has, unless it has had its final drive or diff swapped, it is gonna max at 145ish when it hits the red line.

I had a race with an escort cosworth once in my old E46 325 sport, we both maxed out at 145 and sat side by side with neither of us able to pull away. I had run out of power but he had run out of RPM.

I made myself feel better by thinking to myself that when I get home, get out of the car, lock it and look back - I see a BMW, when he does it, he sees a modified escort that couldn't beat a 4 door BMW. :)

Thats a class of a line lol.

Yeh man that turbo is a piece of blower but the small area of it help it blow that fast but then its still a PANDA

Escort Cosworth is such a icon its unreal. A Bmw 325 aint even in the same league really. Ones a performance rally car ones a saloon/coupe middle of the range car lol.

Fastest timed cosworth to date (sapphire) has topped 200mph

LOL. you are right, my bm was just a middle of the range car. You may have missed my point, I was pointing out that they are not that fast, they are geared to accelerate and have no top end (from the factory) which means that despite their iconic image, they are matched at the top end by more every day cars.

even if it was boosted to 1000bhp, if it had a standard final drive ratio it would still max at its rev limiter of 145mph no matter how much it weighs meaning a less powerful car like an M3 would be able to cruise past at 155mph.

You could also take in to consideration reliabilty issues with a modded ford engine!
Would it be better to spend £30k on modifying a cosworth engine or buy a car that is manufactured fast?
I suppose that is up to you as the enthusiast but I know where the safe money is and which one is more likely to have the safety equipment on board to save me in the event the worst happens.

All just my opinion of course, I was never a big Ford enthusiast.

I doubt that old injection system can fuel correct to 24psi and with only a charge cooler that engine will blow to bits
