alloy wheel weight

hi there guys,

am looking to upgrade to a new set of 19" alloys :D from standard mv2 on my e46 325 coupe. am concerned about any weight increase problems.

have spoken to the place i hope to buy from and at first they said the alloys weighted 9kg each - that seems very light. i asked for specifics with tyres and air and all. they said all in they would be about 17.5kg. is that heavy or not.

how much would 19" tyres add to the weight with fully inflated tyres.

let me know your thoughts.

Sub 10kg 19"s wheels are considered light. Your current MV2s weigh around 12-13kg each.

i imagine thats without the tyres?

so what would they weight with tyres and air.

just trying to work out whether their first figure of 9kg is right when they say 17.5kg with tyres etc.

You've asked for the weight of the wheels plus tyres and air. How much more do you think they will weigh when fully inflated compared to those with no air in? :confused:

is it that silly a question to ask - sure the air makes some difference. have asked the wheel weight and they have confirmed 10.5 kg per wheel and 17.5kg on tyres etc. does that sound right?

Air weighs a tonne, you should really double check how much air they actually put in the tyres, as if they underinflate them then the tyres will weigh less, and it might then get under 10kgs!!!!!! ;)

Fill them with Hydrogen. ;)

Depending on the width of the 19" tyres, I`d expect them to weigh 10-12 Kgs

When I posted my old 19" M3 wheels without tyres they weighed around 50Kgs, when I posted my old Hartge 19" with tyres they weighed almost 100 Kgs.

To confuse matters some tyres are lighter than others!
