bio diesel

I was just passing through a industrial estate in Enfield and I say a petrol pump which and noticed the price of diesel was quite low. As i drove closer it said Biodiesel. I was late so didnt really stop to check it out, but just wondered if anyone has used this in their diesel car or know anyone using it?

I have just bought my first diesel, 730D sport 2003 year. ;)

I know the place you mean, I have used the Bio Diesel from there in my van. I got around 50 mpg in my 1.7 Vauxhall Combo. The only drawback I could find was that top speed was reduced. I had 1/4 tank of normal Diesel in and filled up with Bio. It is recommended to use 50/50 I believe

i'll get my dad to try it in his work van,, dont want to risk anything with the 7er! :D unless ofcourse someone on here has used it in a BMW diesel

Modern BMW's are not designed to run on Bio-diesel. I would check thoroughly before filling up your 730d!

That's strange, you'd think it would be the reverse.

A friend also uses this Bio-Diesel in his Passat 130 TDI with no problems.

I think it depends on biodiesel type (b5, b10?)
I believe you are fine if it was B5, however, please check out with BMW first just in case this is no good for your car :cool:

I am surprised :confused: BMW told me that their cars can run on B5 without any damage to the car. I was misinformed then

I know for a fact that for modern diesel mercs there is no prob to run on B5 (B5 is 5% biodiesel and 95% regular diesel).

The same I have been told by BM so as I said think I was misinformed.

Also no-biodiesel means no biodiesel at all or B5 is allowed/B20 is allowed/B33 is allowed/B100 is allowed???
