View Full Version : Another ICE Phase Complete

Want to say a HUGE thanks to Andy of Ice Cold Audio for completing another phase of the ICE install. New head unit :) Alpine 1004RR (Red Illumination), IPOD interface and Steering Wheel Control interface.

Andy spent about 3.5 hours re-doing the wiring and again, his attention to detail is out of this world. There's a gremlin in the working though, but we'll get around that over the next couple of days.

Here's a couple of pics.

All closed up. One of the best things about the unit is that it's black and blends really well with the dash. I was worried seeing other aftermarket units, but the red-illumination and black casing works perfectly. Also, the soft edges of the unit make it integrate better on the eye.

Ipod is currently located in the glovebox, but we're doing some more work on Tuesday and it'll be moved to the centre console.

I've got the HK speaker and the 2 JL woofers and the new head-unit has made a HUGE difference, it's like they've just woken up. Will get components and another amp to run them next month and it's going to sound complete.

Will post another update and some news on Tuesday ;)

Still not too keen on after market headunits in the dash, but that looks top dude.Red illumiation, much better. Another amazing phase done :cool:

niiice :D I actually prefer the alpine green illumination but the red is more oe [ok. I reckon if you got hold of that centered fascia trim (requires slight cutting behind the panel) it would look even more better :D.

I actually prefer mine where it is. From where the driver sits, it's perfect, you can see everything. Bringing it in to the middle will restrict viewing the right-hand side of the scree / restrict access to the buttons

Looks veeeeeeeeeery nice Fas. How well does the orange Alpine backlighting match up with the dash? I'm looking at an alpine unit and the idea of it matching appeals a lot.

Like you said, your speakers have just woken up....what a difference a good headunit makes....

After looking at your Alpine, I'm sort of glad I haven't picked up my Pioneer AVIC X1R, the Alpine units look sooooo much better.

Now I need to decide :confused: :confused: .......

thats a really nice unit and a proper good price, with the red it really does suit the car, even better you can use steering wheel controls. like it alot

Nice one Fas. I have to say that does look really sweet. Not normally keen on the silver/multi colours of a lot of after market units but the fact that its black is top. ICE for me is always the firtst port of call when getting a new motor. But as you have said it can be a right money pit. Its always best to decide exactly what you want to start with, otherwise you WILL spend the national debt of a small third world country :D .
Stage 3 and hopefully final stage to go now ;) .

True words. In my old car i ended up spending 5k on ice just to get it the way i wanted. :confused:
