De-chrome question???

I am getting my coupe de-chromed as I don't like the chrome round the side windows.
My question is, on M3s and Sport models, is the de-chrome high gloss finish or matt? I've been told that it's high gloss (which I believe is like a painted black finish with laquer), but is this true and does anyone have any close up pics of theirs to show the finish?

Genuine parts prices for the bits (high gloss) is like £650, which I think is absurd for some black strips, so I may get them painted instead if that is what high gloss is.

The de-chrome finish on M3 is matt as standard but then you have the option of having a gloss finish too.
Best off going for the matt version as the gloss finish doesnt cover all the trim so you have a little mismatch.

As far as I know, the sport models have the 'high gloss shadowline' trim around the windows. However, I did see a sport model with a the high gloss stuuf which looked like it had faded?
Not sure if this is possible, but it looked rather tacky as a result.

Matt black all the way. My M3 has the matt strips but my old 330 Clubsport had the gloss strips. The gloss version faded after 18 months or so.

Rub the original down with fine grade sandpaper, prime them and spray them yourself. A lot of people has done it and it's just as good as OEM.

just an idea but what about breakers yards?! they prob wouldn't know what its worth and you would get it quite cheap! :D

i always thought BMW used more of a stain type black ?
sorry to confuse the issue , I just love satin black , half way 'tween gloss and matt :)
