its a fail yes. But it's sometimes possible for the bulbs to erm... fall out or if the actual brake pad sensor becomes "unclipped" on some cars it overrides the dash light

no it wont fail, the brake test is an average score of front brakes/rear brakes and handbrake. it is set to a very low standard. my last car's handbrake was so weak when it went for an MOT but it still averaged out to a pass.

dont worry abt it. its meant to catch out old fiestas with no brakes. not TTs with a early warning light on its BBK.

it won't fail just for the light being on the dash as long as the brake tester results are ok and the pads are above the MOT thickness. would be an advisory that they are wearing low if they are!

cheers

did you put on brandnew pads when your got your BBK? I think it should be ok, as long as he can see that there is at least some pad thinkness left to allow you to drive for a week or so. You can just tell him you have ordered a new set of pads.

It will not fail as others have said. There is probably a bit of pad left, but I haven't really heard of a BBK using wear sensors as the pads don't normally have the little space for the sensor to fit (as OE ones do). It may be the rears that are low. I know when I put the APs on the 330d the wear sensor was just cable tied out of the way.

I didnt fail the Irish NCT when mine was on. Then again they did not even bother to test the brakes. I think they saw them big red Stoptechs and though there is no way that thing is gonna fail. On my report it just says not tested... passed. :D

Bang on. It's an advisory that you have a warning light on, nothing else, providing that your braking force is sufficient to pass the roller test.

One thing though, surely as a hairdryer your device should be getting a PAT test not an MoT test? ;) :p
