Diffs ?

Hi lads have not been on for a while due to work.

can anybody explain abit about diffs to me i see some people mentioning 3.46 or something.
And would my 330ci sport have a LSD as standard?

330 no LSD.

3.46 is a shorter ratio compared to the stock 2.93. Allows the engine to spool up a lot quicker and improves acceleration. However, you run out of rev quicker and lower top speed given the same gear and engine RPM.

Drinks more fuel but allow you tackle B roads much better. Bad for motorway cruising because of the high revs.

Best if you have the new 6-speed gearbox with 6th as an over drive.

It's possible but you're looking at aftermarket ones around GBP2000, if you can find one. Cheaper in the US from Rennsport, Turner Motorsport and Kaaz but still 4 figures.

not a good idea then.its just i have found this new loveto go round in circles.and i am told you need lsd to do it.

3.46 is an awsome mod. Power is always put down to the road no matter what rpm or gear you are in.

But i dont think i would consider this if i didnt have a 6speed. If you dont do any mway driving then go for it, or if you can put up with a lower top speed around 130mph then definately do this mod.

Only have 5.and love the top end.but maybe when i change car next year :D
