Got to see the new E60 M5 last night, had a good nosy around the car, and its very very nice overall, alot better that imagined it would be. It looks alot better in the real than any of the pictures do justice to it.
Main bits I really like were :
New dials (simply much better than e39/e46), more slick and rev lights are way:cool:
HUDS : Heads up display, how gimmicky is this.. lol..very nice touch, and the digital rev counter is nice!
Seats were very comfy (full merio extended leather pack), although at a 5k+option, shame its not standard.
Alcantera headlining.. .whoa.. how nice was that.. definately worth getting!
The engine is simply awesome, not much bigger (physically) in size than my s62 engine, the 2 upper plenum areas are separate fed by individual air boxes.. definately can see some nice gruppeM carbon fibre inductions there! :D
Wheels do look much much better in the flesh, they have a very nice concave effect from the outer spoke to the wheel hub.
Although I think the M6 wheels would look nicer on the bigger beefy car!

Brakes are very big for a std car! 374x36 (fronts) and 370x24 (rears).
Bootspace is more than my e39.
Hopefully going to get a test drive soon, and comment on the smgiii setup. [hmm
Parked up next to a the e39, it does make the old car look very dated. There is certainly a nice evolution thats taken place between the old and new, and overall its a very nice car... but the very hard decision is whether someone will choose to spend just over 73k (for the nicely specc'ed car). Maybe in a couple of years, once the bugs have been sorted (if any) and there alittle more mainstream, it might be time to upgrade ;)
One thing that didn't look quite right though, it doesn't have the m-tech oval interior mirror? just the same old one rectanglar one. They're probably already working on the facelift as we speak! [cool

Ps: Monday channel 5, 5th gear at 8.30pm Tiff needell, test drives the e60 m5 on the track, plenty of sideways there :D
