I'v driven in a car with Stoptech and think their rubbish compared to others out there.

900 front and rear, its a bargain or their a load of shit, the fact he didnt even mentioned the basic info, ie the make, makes me think their some shit make.

LOL I wasnt actually thinking about your car when I said that! But yes your Stoptechs stop that mighty 1.8 very well! :D

My old car had Brembo and AP Racing BBK on it.

I just think that its worth spending the extra money to get the vastly superior product.

Saying that though it all does depend on your application of the product, if you just drive on the road and want big calipers then they are fine I guess.

My mate has Stoptech's on his car and I would say they are as good as the Porsche brakes on my car - that would have been the next mod on the M3 if I had not sold it.

Where they 4 or 6 piston? what disks and pads did he have, how new where the disks and pads? How hard did you drive the car in comparison to how hard you drive your own car?

Over the years I seriously looked into alot of "BBK" products and was lucky to get some help and info through some contacts I have made over the years.

Stoptech is a classic example of a product pushed alot by retailers as they make larger margins on them than other BBK.

They brand new 6 pots, I went in the car once they had been on for about a month or two - we were going very fast when he jabbed them on and I nearly exited via the windscreen - and that was with my belt on - Been in Roy's CA Banana and that is also imense in the braking department.

They sure did as they are now on my car ;) . I bought the 4pot calipers off the banana when Roy upgraded to the 6pots. I also run the same 355mm slotted disks. They really are very good and Roy rates them as good as anything else on the market. He ran Axxis Ultimates and then switched to Pagid blues which is what I got with the calipers. I am now on Axxis pads and when they are hot they bite fecking hard :D .

Nick also rates ST brakes highly. They use something called balanced brake technology. Not sure what that is :o but hell, it works :p .

Stoptechs are great brakes... I had only the front kit on my M5 and it stopped that tank everytime no questions asked. They are also one of few companies that have brakes tailored for use with stock OEM brakes by using proper piston sizes piston sizes.

I had a full set of StopTechs (from new) on my M3 and I do rate their performance very highly (4-pot ST40 calipers, Axxis Ultimate pads and X-Drilled 355mm rotors).

STs have the most aggressive pedal feel of all BBKs I've tried. Mine were punished really hard to the point the bells overheated and corroded and the paint on the calipers peeled off. But they never at any time let me down in the braking department. I had concerns with these 2 asthetic issues but I really cannot fault the way they performed.

Punished STs .......

It is personal opinion I guess. Never had anything other than the Aps on the 330d (and they were superb)... I personally think any BBK is gonna be better than stock brakes...

So what brakes do you have now? And which ones did you have on the 335d?

Nick now has Brembo GTs....

And which ones did you have on the 335d?

They were CA Automotive branded F-Carbons.

I guess you're right Raj.

Most BBK are always going to be better them OEM, then there are small improvement the higher in "quality" you go.

I dont understand people who say ST are as good as Brembo because they sat in the car that someone else drove and it stopped really well

I had three different makes of 6 pot calipers on my Evo and know there can be a big difference between various manufacturers.

As I said before ST are an example of a product which gets pushed more into your face by retailers because they can make more money on them. Flavour of the month until F Carbon or someone else reduce their prices lmao

Mud, other than being slightly p'eed off by how the ST corroded and their caliper paints peeled, I went for Brembo on my last 2 cars because I like branded stuff, and Brembo has the kudos when it comes to the badge. Plus their build quality is better and look more refined.

I went for the F-Carbons on my 335 because I thought I'll try something different, and it was a lot cheaper than either ST or Brembo.

But putting all the window dressing aside, if I had a track prepped car and I didn't care about how the brakes look and what brand name they are, I'll be more than happy to use STs because they do what is said on the tin, from my past expereince anyway.
