Leaked: BMW M3 Cabrio & it has the new Box

then up pops our friends at autoblog.nl (http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2008/01/13/bmw-m3-cabrio-is-officieel) with what appears to be the first official photos of the BMW M3 Cabrio which had us frantically running over to the BMW stand expecting to see this baby in the flesh, only to be left disappointed.
The new M3 Cabrio is reported to be the first to feature BMW's 7 speed double clutch transmission which will carry the label "M DKG" and is very similar to Volkswagen's six speed DSG transmission which uses 2 computer controlled switches to make shift changes both quicker and smoother. The 0 to 60mph time lies at 5.3 seconds which is 0.4 seconds slower than the coupe, largely due to the extra weight of the retractible roof.
We aren't expecting to see the M3 Cabrio in the flesh until Geneva in March, but lets see if these leaked photos spur BMW into action sooner

I personally think it looks sick. Although I've always been a big fan :) I know a good few people here disagree.

I'd have the front looow low low and jack the rear slightly. Get some LMs on there, tint the windows and job done. Evil looking car :D

Definitely needs to be black with the red leather though ;)

This photo looks a bloody mess :( . Look at the shutlines around the roof and boot. Would need to see it in black but in silver it looks very poor IMHO.

i'd still buy it !! i just have a big soft spot for bmw convertibles and the fact that its an M3 just makes it more apealing !!

forget the roof shut lines etc just pray for the good weather and get the roof off !!

But I am thinking its going to be SMG.

Looking at those pictures... the shift speed switch is still there, you would probably not have that on a "DSG" car, as they are sooo smooth at shifting anywayz. You don't feel anything.... so no reason to have a slow and fast mode etc.

Might be wrong.. let's see.....

I have to say that the E92 M3 carries a certain presence even if it isn't the bets looking, but the E93 is a pig. I'll give them that the roof action is seriously trick, we saw one of the first in the UK at BMW's HQ and it's an awesome piece of mechanical ballet, but it's got more shut-lines than the London Underground on a Sunday morning when there's been a plague of wet leaves in the city...

like chaos said...pig perhaps looks better in darker colour but light colour like silver or white is going to show the horrid shutlines....thats bad

dealer just called me they said the smg will hopefully be released towards end of this year...thats what I been waiting for :) it was supposed to come out this March but got delayed due to some technical issues....

Yeah the first thing I noticed was the shutlines too. Not very nice at all imho. Black may be better but prefer the coupe

Think you'd need the car in dark colour, def need to hide the shutlines.

Think new M3 is the first m car where I'd rip off the mirror and stick ones on from standard car.

Lol - that was the first thing that come into my head - as soon as I saw the shut lines I thought "Transformer" - my 4 year old will be please - I think it is a Pig - I have to say I have not seen any new M3 look even half as nice as Nick's 330D. E46 M3 is a million times nicer and I am with Fas - For the money - GT-R every minute of every day.

That sounds really nice; I think the E92/3 just doesn't photograph well. The Silver E92 M3 with black leather in the display window at HR Owen Chiswick looks positively gorgeous in the flesh :)
