Hiy'a ppl

After much research and thinking, I've decided that it definately is time to let the 330vert go!
I only made the final decision today and have booked it into CA in the next 2 weeks to uninstall the charger, short shift, Stage 2 clutch etc.
Still coming to the POD on Sunday in it tho!

My next venture is going to be either an M3 coupe, or TVR Tuscan.
I know the M3's reliability is spot on, and the tuscan leaves a lot to be desired, but I figured the amount of money I spend a month modding my 330 will be enough to keep the Tuscan on the road.
Performance wise, nothing is touching the Tuscan, ferrari, porsche's etc. all get eaten for breakfast. However the tuscan has it's down points too, it's not built well, rattles/leaks etc., but if I get one with a warantee then I've got nothing to loose right?

I had the E36 M3 before and they are great cars. Totally different set up to my 330, and I know the E46 is even better than the E36 for speed.

It's a hard one!
Any ideas?

Also, this will probably get moved but hey. In the next few weeks I'll have the following for sale:

Umnitza 46 projector headlights with integrated DDE - offers
X-Tec HID 6,000k conversion for headlights - offers
Xtec HID 6,000k conversion for fog lights - offers
BMW Wind Deflector - offers
ACS Type 3 18inch wheels. They've got a few minor scuff's but appart from that they're mint. With good tyres. Looking to swap for 18inch MV spoke's and receive say £350............
FAS, if you want the Zimmerman disks, they're yours mate if I can have your standard ones.
V-small DVD player with remote controll - £80
Clubsport splitters in Velvet Blue (can be repainted) - £45
ACS replica Racing strut brace in Silver - £110
LED Rear Lights including adaptors and boot lid LED and other boot light thingies (need programming by BMW). Will swap these for a standard set and say £65 (FAS?)

ACS Handbrake and Gearknob - Will swap for standard and ones and say £15 each.......

Tuscan, that's going to be a beast! If it keeps running.

Being able to mantain the Tuscan is one thing but being left stranded in one and the inconvenience it can potentially cause is another story altogether.

Even with the best warranty, I'll be well pissed off if it dies on me at a roundabout on a way to a meet! :(

What about a tuned up Skyline? I'm sure that can scare the Tuscan ;)

Wonder what would she say if she has to help push a Tuscan off the road :D .......golden rule to woo ladies, make sure your car DOESN'T break down ;)

LOL. That reminds me of a time when I was living in South Africa. Friend of mine took his wife out to some ball in his z3. Got a flat tyre. With the luggage in the boot, the only place for the wheel was her lap :D And the best thing was, she was wearing white.

She was NOT pleased!

Either get a Tuscan with 10k already on the clock, never buy a TVR with less because all the niggles get fixed in the forst 10k, or get a Tuscan 2 as they have a much more reliable engine.

In all honesty there are enough tuscans on the road, if they were sooooooo bad then they would not sell so many.

Do you have another car to drive if it has to spend 1 week in the garage. Remember their parts department is not like BMW.

I would look at getting an R34 skyline. They look great, and as for ladies, i guess it depends on what type of lady you want to attract. ;)

I've acutally already got a GF, but you know how it is ;)
Never been attracted to skylines, cheers for the reassurance on the tvr churchwa, and yep I'll probably get a 500quid runabout for times when it's garaged!
m3 is still looking attractive tho, I guess it's down to what's available for what price at the time.
I hear M3's have engine blowing problems before a certiain year, which is the best year to go for considering I've got a 25k budget?

Cheers

Kris

£25k will buy you at least a reasonably good 51 plater. The engines that blew up are usually the earlier ones and unfortunately includes those up to mid 2003. But nobody knows exactly and it also depends on how they were driven especially from cold.

Those with big end recall done are slightly down-tuned for better engine protection.

What about E39 M5? Now that's a rocket with the momentum of a bullet train.

And you can mod it very nicely too (http://sankeys.demon.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=1909)

Dude, Tuscan does not eat a ferrari, I know.. have taken one out!

Anywayz.. back to the point at hand, you are talking about a car that has no ABS, no Traction control, and is not exactly the most well balance car out there.

Dude, the thing is going to be a handful, one small mistake, and its all over..

Get a BM, you can rip it, without having to worry, it will work. And if you go to a track you can turn all the toys off.

Love tvr's but agree with the two car policy, hope this helps (http://www.tvrfreak.com/)

as for M3 got to be 1st choice, or maybe a compromise an Alpina b3s, had to move over for one of these at 120 mph on the autobahn (cough cough) now you see it now you don't

Kris, I though u only just came back from Germany! Anyway, I'd take the Tuscan for the brilliant exhaust tone, performance, looks and exclusivity (def turns more heads than M3) but I'd be worrying constantly about reliability and how 'raw' the car is in comparison to the M3. Maybe you can talk a dealer into giving you an extended test drive. In any case, you're moving up the car ladder

As luck would have it, I've found someone who wants to buy the car as a whole, for £25,500 :D :D :D

That works out that I'll get an extra couple of G's than I was expecting. The guy is a good friend and will take it in 5 weeks time for cash! I showed him the forum last night and he thought it's wicked! Looks like this car will be staying on evotechnik for some time yet!
I'll also be sticking on the forum as now that I've got some more wedge to play with, I think I can blow out the holiday and go for an M3vert

Evotechnik's sooooooooo addictive

Appologies to all those to whom I promised bits to, but the guy wants the car exactly as it is and I'm never one to turn down more $$$.

Your selling the 330 because of the amount you spend a month on mods and now your planning the mods for your M3. lmao. Modding is so addictive :D

I nearly bought a tuscan last year from Meridian modena in bournemouth. It was a y'reg and had done 17k, but the clutch had gone already!! When i started talking to a few enthusiasts about them they told me that was good if thats all thats wrong with it!! Most get new engines before 10k!!
One of them even said that you need to allow £4-5k A YEAR on repairs and that isnt taking servicing into mind!!! In other words, steer well clear unless youve got a big bank balance.
