View Full Version : OK, Rim choice decision time - CSL Reps or BBS CH?
I know, I know, another rim choice question.
Well, it is basically between the Velocity CSL Replica or a set of BBS CH rims. I know peeps not another one with CHs. But it is the quality of the CHs that is drawing me in.
CSLs would deffo be different, but BBS has so much quality / reputation behind them, built to such a high standard. The CSLs would look slightly more OEM as you have the BM badges but I JUST DON'T KNOW.
PLEASE HELP....

And that group buy we have done sure has some nice prices for BBS rims. The CH's are a snip.
Have a search and you will find all the prices and contact details.

Yeah, I like your thinking :D , but they are 19s, cost a fair few bob, and you don't get the dished rear.
I think you may be biased, though ;) :D ;)

Yeah Ed. It was Tony I spoke to. It's because of the good price I am thinking of getting them. The CSL reps are costing around £630 inc. shipping from the US of A, and the BBSs are working out at around the £775 mark (so not much in it). These are for 18s as well (just in case peeps were wondering).

what have u decided Raj?
what have u decided Raj?
Think I'm gonna get 2 BBS CH's for one side and then 2 CSL Reps (one with dish) for the other, that way I have the best of both worlds ;) .
To be honest, I STILL DON'T KNOW.
I am leaning towards BBS though.....

i'm not an authority on this so don't quote me but if you can, i reckon going for the lightest and strongest wheel you can get for the £££ is the way forward.
reason being is that if you have height adjustable suspension (and you are that precise about it) you should be able to corner weight the car with you and a full tank of fuel in the car, for the best balance set-up.
i've a friend in the US who has just ordered an M3 with the CS package. he's stoked because he's getting the CSL wheels but there is a catch. the CS package wheel is actually heavier than the actual CSL wheel. I don't know the weight of replicas etc. but on the choice you've listed, I'd be inclined to go for a set of the CH's in 18" and put a cut-slick tyre on them, like the Yokohoma advan. Put a little more -ve camber all round and you will really notice the difference
i reckon you'd have to budget for
-ve camber setup approx £170 from a specialist, if you need adjustable top mounts add another £200 onto that, all inc VAT
- stickyish tyres (Yokies or Dunlops), I've used the Yokies on an E30 M3 and that car just stuck to the road in wet or dry
- adjustable suspension setup, I'd go for Bilstein PSS9 budget £1.5k including fitting?
Kav, I am leaning quite a lot towards the CH's. It is just that the CSLs would look more OE with the BM badges, etc.
The Velocity CSL Reps are 24lb fronts and 24.4lb rear. Not that bad at all. But as for strength, I wouldn't have a clue.

Yep that's the way forward for performance. The CSL rims are forged whereas the CS rims are plain cast. However, if I want to go light and keep some strength in the wheel, I would opt for these

;)
whatever you do, your car will look the mutts nuts
Cheers Matt. Sure it will look sweet. The choice I have is between 2 absolutely top looking wheels, so which ever way I go, I know I'll be beeming :D .
As for callouts, don't remind me. 2:30am Sunday morning was called in to work and didn't leave till 9am. 2 hours kip - great :( (but all the extra cash helps ;) )
