Hi Guys

After some advice, ... please :D

Sold my e36 m3 and am now moving over to the e46 series.
Hopefully going to look at a 330ci on a 2000 plate this weekend, could some give me any pointers or things to look out for. Car is question has just done 104k.

Thanks

I know the rear subframes are a known problem on some of the earlier models. Look back through the main forum, another member had exactly that problem on an e46. think it was similar mileage too.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

That subframe problem should not exist on a 330ci as they had re-inforced subframe mountings, only as far as I know the problem exists on the 323 & 328.

Unless it's spec'd very high and going very cheap, I'd maybe look for a car with lower mileage. buyer's market out there!

My 2000 model was bought with 46k, now got about 55k i think, and ive had the car a year. I had to replace the radiator as the material was thinning out so fluid was effectively venting off, and i kept having to top up the coolant.

I've also had to change the camshaft inlet sensor, this usually presents itself as the car stalling just as you're about to pull away because the revs drop before rising as you pull away at the lights. both of these got done by Jan and since then no major probems.

Window regulators are known to go round about every 60k and central locking actuators fail and this results in it not unlocking (usually the passenger side) on the 1st attempt requiring you to unlock and lock a few times before the lock pops up. Mine needs replacing.:(

Front bonnet will undoubtedly have stone chips as the paint is rubbish.

7 year old car, don't just look for service stamps. Check out what has been done to the car.

Shocks absorbers, front control arm bushes, rear trailing arm bushes, balljoints on front lower wishbones, anti-roll bar drop links, brake discs should all be checked for wear, if they haven't been changed already.
