My colleague needs new brakes/pads on his stock 01' M3 and wondered if you guys can suggest upgrade options, along with a rough price range for each option. He is not looking to get BBK as it's too expensive so suggestions for replacement discs and pads please:)
p.s. instead of asking me, i'll get him to register on this forum today...

Stick with the OEM X-Drilled discs. I would opt for Pagid Fast Road pads.
He might want to consider upgrading the brake hose to stainless braided ones and switch to DOT 5.1 fluid.

Yep any independent BMW specialist can get them for you.
They will cost around £500 for the whole set.

If you are changing the disc, change the pads as well. How long they last is totally subjective, subjected to what level of abuse ;)

CA can offer an uprated brake kit, its not a BBK but it includes uprated discs, slotted and vented, uprated pads and stainless lines with 3 bottles of DOT 5.1 brake fluid as well. Lets us know if your intreasted we do this kit for most models.
The advantage over an OE sytem is that you get much better pedal feel and they are not prone to fade. Also looking at the prices it would seem that our aftermarket uprated setup would be cheaper than buying OE equipment

Al, are your discs drilled after they're cast or formed during the casting process? :)

Evening guys.
I will have to let you know on the prices first thing on monday as I have been in France go-karting all day (which was awesome) and have only just got back home. Hope this is ok with you Fas,
All drilled discs are "cast - drilled" , which means the holes are formed as part of the mold during the molten metal manufacture stage ; this makes the disc far stronger than would be the case if actually drilling into the disc material after the disc is formed , the latter which leads to premature fatigue and cracking of the metal disc .
we do quite a comprehensive range with regards to brakes from BBK's to uprated OE. if you view our page here:
