I'm now ready to take the motors out from my OEM mirrors into my new mirrors and I need to take out the mirrror glass and motor safely. I do not want to break the glass and the DIY I have found so far basically says to tilt the mirror inwards and just pry it out from the side opening using a flathead. Is this *THE* definitive way to do it?

- Anyone got any tips so that I don't break anything?

- When reapplying the mirror glass onto the new housing, can I just use any double-side sticky tape to fix the mirror glass back on, or do I have to use a thermal ones? Or, is the mirror glass fixed into motor position by a clip and does not use a sticky tape at all???

Usually there is a clip under the glass of which you just flick over and that release's the glass. Is the clip there in your car?

I see 2 wires and a small black circular plastic with 2 metal hooks attached at the back. I assume the 2 metal hooks are the clips? if so how do i release them?

Normally at the bottom you will see a little clip hanging down just behind the glass. If you get a small screw driver and turn the clip either clockwise or anti and this will turn the complete plastic glass holder and release.

I must confess I have only done this on M3 mirrors but I should imagine in principle it is a similar mechanism...
