Hi guys,

first post here!

I was browsing the evotechnik website and I noticed that Peppernick's car has been modded with a LSD. I always thought it wasn't possible to put an LSD on an E46 non-M3... I asked a lot of people and that's what they all told me.

So, who can install this in the UK/Europe and how much does it cost?

Thanks!

Peppernick's does not have an LSD, he was told it was, and we relized it was not. Nick correct me if I am wrong.

However you can buy an LSD for a e46, www.rennsport.com sell them.

Ship it over, and any good garage should be able to fit.

Yep, got taken for a ride. Told it was an LSD but when I did a little experiment of lifting a rear wheel off the ground and run the engine, that particular wheel was unloading without any hint of a slip limitation. Got charged £1200 for it too!! Returned it for good!

Both Rennsport and Kazz Diff can sell you an LSD that will fit an E46.

Thanks for your help with this. Samir from Rennsport got back to me, but unfortunately he said he would need my diff for the installation, so he's not able to ship a new, ready to install LSD.

I have checked on the kaazusa website, and they have an LSD for 328i E46... not sure if will fit the 330 but I'll check with them.

I hope I'll be able to fit one some day, IMO this is really the #1 mod for this car!

What more than an SC... I think Nick and Myself would have to disagree.

What real-world difference would the addition of an LSD make?

Yeah but power is useless if you can't transfer it properly from the wheels to the ground :D

There's a reason why all M models come with an LSD...

In normal street traffic, hardly any. However if you find yourself approaching the limit of your car, for example on track, the difference is day & night. You are able to exit earlier from a curve, because the power is being transferred to both wheels and not only to the one who has the less grip.

With an LSD you should be able to maintain a nice drift with the throttle, while it's nearly impossible with the standard open differential.

I've now got a 330ci, but my previous car was an E36M3evo convertible, which came with LSD standard. It makes the world of difference. On a car with LSD you can do full 360's, figure of 8's etc. from standstill with only a very light flick of the clutch and hardly any gas.
Without LSD, the car just won't do a 360 etc.
In the real world, LSD means basically you have more controll over the rear end.
I'm on the look out for one and will post back once found.

I have to agree now having experienced my M3. The LSD makes such a difference. So much more grip and with I can really feel the car being propelled forward especially coming out of corners with minimal wheelspin.

The M3 rear will bolt straight up, to any E46. Ive got my eye on one at the minute. ;)

Whats with you guys who cant do a 360 in your E46. Mine does pretty easy, can hold drifts pretty well too.
