Rover like a lot of British industries, is a dinosaur. Sooner or later they become extinct.
It's always the case that when something goes wrong, it's someone else's fault because they are supposed to be looking after all their problems. No such thing in the ultra competitive world. BMW did not take over Rover with good samaritan act in mind. BMW thought they could collaborate with Rover to make better cars; hence money. More so, BMW capitalised on the Mini icon and made the ageing automobile into a best seller. Ulterior motive is there and will always be there. If Rover didn't see it, they are just too blind and naive.
It's a greedy world out there. But greed is the essence of the human evolutionary spirit. That's how we strive for excellence. Maybe it's long overdue that a lot of industries forget about keeping the tradition hoping for patriotism and concentrate on innovation. And more importantly, stop blaming others for their failures because no one will pay attention, but a lot will laugh.
Rover, the name is dead. Whatever that's left out there are treading precariously with one foot in the grave and the other on a bannana skin.
