Thanks to PaulM3 for selling me those wheels! I've finally put them on and took a few pics!

Now I just need to drop the car... what do you guys think of Koni Coilovers? Or Bilstein PSS9 but they are like £300 more expensive.

That looks sweet! nice colour.

Are you set on coilovers? Why not a spring and damper package or even just springs?

Awesome choice! Genuine Type 3 Racing [bow [bow

If you're set on coilovers, get the PSS9. They are well worth it. Ride is very comfortable for what they are and performance is unsurpassed. Roy will be your man ;)

BTW, did you use the 7mm spacers? Your wheels look slightly tucked in.

Thanks for your input! I didn't use any spacers except for the small orange discs that were provided with the wheels - Paul, are they spacers? (thanks for sending the invoice BTW [cool )

The wheels may look "tucked in" because they are 8.5" in 235/35/19 all around. I had M72 wheels with 255/35/18 at the rear before and thought that 255 was really too large for the car - so I didn't want to go for 9" in 265/35/19.

I was thinking about upgrading the brakes too but it cost an awful lot of money

I wish I could put an LSD on it too but nobody sells this part in Europe

Other than that, I really don't want to add anything to the car except a drop - I may go for Bilstein or Koni coilovers.

if u want it just want it lower with slight handling go for some eibach springs.. only £140ish.(so save $$ too). but if u want both go for coilovers especially if u like tracks :):)

the little orange things arnt spacers.. i cant remember wat
they're called.. theykeep the rim sitting properly

Original ACS rims should come with the factory 7mm spacers. Even with your 235/35, you have a lot of space to push the wheels out to give them the maximum effect. Have a looks at this ;)

Imola Red ;)

He was running 255 rears, it's not the tyres but spacing out the rims together with a drop really fill the arches. Little things that make a huge difference

You can get ACS 7mm spacers from your dealer, they come with wheel bolts as well as a set, £35 each corner.

Hey guys

following your suggestions, I'm looking for some spacers. Do you think I can buy these from any BMW dealer?

Also, which size do I need to look for? 7mm all around? I have heard 15mm - but that seems too much.

Also, will I need to have the arches rolled, since I plan to lower the car?

Thanks!

you can buy spacers from any car shop i.e halfords

i would go wider at back than the front you may need longer wheel bolts depending how wide you go .

if you drop it you may need to roll arches nothing mayjor [writesmil

Thanks for the comments.

I'll probably go with Bilstein PSS9 - if I have the cash.

But what about the spacers guys? Which spacer size do I need to aim for?

kris d
15-06-2005, 08:48 PM
you want to go for the ACSchnitzer 7mm spacers  . They come with the longer bolts which you need. They're 40quid a corner from bmw.
They'll fill the arches nicely [cool . You wouldn't need the arches rollled either if you're runnng 235 tyres all round.

Afif
15-06-2005, 08:54 PM
£40 a corner?!?! Thats like £160 all round right . Im pretty sure Roy does the eibach equivalent of spacers much cheaper and some longer bolts shouldnt be much more.

photek
15-06-2005, 09:02 PM
That's quite expensive indeed!

So, I guess 7mm is enough then - don't need to go for 15mm which may be too much if I understand correctly.

lee330sport
15-06-2005, 09:55 PM
Roy does Eibach, about £25 for a set of 2. Just fitted 10mm to mine but it rubs slightly now.

photek
15-06-2005, 09:58 PM
and can I ask what tyre size and offset you have?

lee330sport
15-06-2005, 10:05 PM
Im not sure, they are custom rims but i think the fronts were 38+10mm spacer so im not surprised there rubbing.lol

Looks awesome though. And they only rub when cornering very hard.

Tyres are 235/35.

Lovely car Photek, what colour is it? It's nice whatever it is.

Shuriken.

kris d
16-06-2005, 10:37 AM
I've got 255tyres at the rear and 7mm spacers and mine are 18inch. They never used to rub, but I changed my pilot sports for dunlop's and the tyre wall sticks out more on the dunlops so they rub now if there's more than 2 people in the car and I accelerate hard. :(

I've got to make the choice of getting the arches rolled, or going back to pilot sport's (which have a lovely looking tyre wall btw)...

photek
16-06-2005, 12:08 PM
Will try with the 7mm spacers - hope the tyres won't rub once the car is lowered, I'd hate that :(

Shuriken> Color is Mora Metallic Individual.

In fact the car has been fitted with PSS9 coilovers - in the first post I replaced the original pics on my webspace by the new ones with the car lowered, but I'm unable to edit the original post.

ACS Type 3s are not BBK friendly. You need 16mm spacers up front and 10mm rear.
