Does anyone know which ECU sofware version I would have on my 51 reg 330ci, and what the latest ECU software version is?
Chris at infinitas said that I'm losing power down in the 2-3k revrange and that I need to go to BMW and ask for the latest ECU software.
However, when I went they were reluctant to do it and said that it wouldn't make any difference anyway.
What do you guys recon.....
Cheers

I heard it is 40.1 DME, 39.1 apparently had stalling and rpm drop issues...maybe Nick can confirm
hmm.. interesting.. (bit of a cop out from ya dealer though :( but whats new!
ECU software revision, might be able to be found by Diagnostics tools like www.auterraweb.com and www.peakresearch.com and http://www.autoenginuity.com/
trying to get hold of the peakresearch tool for error code readings etc soon.

I rekcon that sounds like a typical dealer and I'd be telling them to bloody well do it, especially if you're still under extended warranty. Either way, that's a stock "we can't be arsed" reply to which you point out why you pay all that money for a BMW in the first place and go on to explain the economics of why they get paid more than the average Ford/Vauxhall/etc monkey before explaining what would happen to their lovely income if all the BMW drivers went out and bought Mercs. Feel free to finish any of those sentences with the word 'bitch'. If they still protest, speaking to the service manager and/or pointing out that you think they borked your ECU on the last service can also work wonders, the latter happens a surprising amount of times considering how routine an ecu flash is.

Ok, this is an old thread, but I've got it booked into a different branch of BMW for tomorrow.
One thing the man said last time was that it might interfear with the 'piggyback' chip which the SK+ uses.
Does anyone know if that's correct?

No it shouldnt do, think the piggyback just adjusts the fueling so will just adapt itself to the new settings.
