Have you tried adjusting the two pins (locking points) on the rear of the hardtop? You can adjust them by rotating clockswise for a firmer fit (correct me if i'm wrong anyone) Mine squeeks a little but it's usually when going over a severe camber change in the road, usually when i'm reversing off my drive. Also, this might be a long shot but are the squeeks comming from your window seals?

hi,

thanks for the response. The squeaks seems worse the first time i start to drive the car off my driveway, i do also have a little squeak in the window seals. I will give your recommendation a go and see what happens.

There is special BMW lubricant called "BMW Gummi-Pflege" which can b applied to the seals on both the soft and hard tops and is meant just for this use.

Pretty much most silicone/teflon based or rubber lubricant will also work from most auto factors.

Also you can get the windows adjusted which is what you are meant to do when swapping between hard and soft tops but I never bothered, waste of £100!

PLastic / rubber lubrication will make the world of difference. My 6 year old vert is quiet as the day i bought it, same as Chaos's. I use a rubber seal restorer from Zymol. Make sure you feed the rubber across the top of the windscreen, where the windows meet and where the bottom of the roof joins the body across the back. As you've probably never done it before, lay the lube on thick and don't wipe it off for a good 30 mins as it'll take time for the rubber to get re-nourished. After that, do it monthly, you only need to keep it on for a couple of minutes to get good saturation

Fas, is this in regards to a hardtop or soft top? or does it work for both? My squeak comes from the drivers side window. Must be the colder weather hardening up the rubber seals. Nourishing it would certainly soften it up and reduce the noise.

For both. I do it monthly with the ragtop, then put a thick layer on when the hardtop goes on which keeps it squeek free over winter.
