When my split rims were polished by the previous owner, the bolts were also polished and unlacquered (basically the top surface shaved off) so the bolts have all gone rusty and even if I rub it off, the rust sets in quickly. Now I'm getting tired of cleaning all 200+ bolts so I've decided to grind the surface with my trusty drill and paint it black or silver. I'm in 2 minds about this and my current preference is black as further rust/uneven surface/DIY paint job will be less noticeable than silver. what do u guys think? it'll be a painstaking task to paint/lacquer all 200+ bolts but I think this was long due...

Does anyone know what paint type i need for this? i can't use spray as the target area is small so i will go down the paint/small brush route but i don't want to repeat this paint job again so the paint has to last for a very long time. one candidate for this was high temp caliper paint. u guys think that's going to be okay?

why not get them chrome or nickel palted to an industrial standard ( so the plating does not crack with heat and stress )

just an idea .......

paint I think is always in some danger of discolouring / peeling in this case

Roy, do u know roughly how much this is likely to cost per wheel? I asked BBS whether they can supply me new bolts and they do not stock them anyway, but even if they did, it would have cost me a lot. my local wheel refurb shop has quoted me 65/wheel so i need to find a cheaper alternative [hmm
