Ok, chappies (n chapesses), with all this ICE talk.. got me fingers itchin to join in with the fun :p

Anyone got any opinions on which screens to fit?

Required setup would be :

2x rear headrest screens hooked up to the av inputs to my satnav, thus enabling me to have either a dvd player (mounted somewhere in the boot). Got the NavTv av input cables.

Think I'd need some kind of AV selector too, to switch between inputs from a digital/video camera/dvd player/laptop/ps2/psp(futureproof).

How about adding one more screen for the front passenger area, so that satnav can still be shown on screen, but sound etc fed to the screens/dvd etc.

I've got a fd5869 necvox screen, which powers up n works, but don't have the mounting brackets/rear enclosure to safely fit it into the headrest.

What about the heat generated by the screens on long operations? is it anything to be worried about?

The Necvox seems to be the most popular. Where are you getting yours from?

TIN!!!!!......i like what you are doing to my baby.......

seriously thought...VEBA? neva heard of them...necvox are not bad for the money...actually quite damn good for the money....with regards to the mounting bracket....i dont think it;s needed for a headrest fitment....in any case...it can be sourced....

If your budget stretches i'd go for alpine screens.....depends on how much da diff in price is....i'lll find out 4 ya......only cos it;s gonna be mine soon!!

Tin, if you can wait a couple of days, I just ordered a pair of these

When they come in, I can take a look at the quality for you. £66 each is not to be sniffed at ;)

hahah, thought i'd treat her to some new toys.. (only if thats ok with u man)[cool

Veba screens, info here, they look slightly better than the necvox ones, dude to be all black, and have a thinner width, hence not much intrusion with the headrest (they are motorised, hence don't know whats in them to be honest!)

these ones look fav at the mo (http://www.veba.uk.com/productsNew/av650mf.html)

Would love to get some alpine screens, but to be honest there's a very good range at the 66 ;) ->150'ish mark, which will do the job fine.

Also need to add a dvd player, that can access from within the car (hmm..more thinking n research).

whats happening guys!
tin i think the vebas are a good choice for you as they have built it ir transmitters and will work with veba wireless headphones for rear passengers but look at no bigger than 6.8 as your headrests are smaller in comparison.
i will check out the lilliput screens from fas and see what comes with them. as fas said £66 is not to be sniff at...

p.s veba also do the smallest dvd player i've ever seen for dedicated in car use. it's smaller 1/3 smaller than your average car stereo!

yeah not bad bro, they do look quite smart.
the main aim of the game with headrest screens is to go for ones that have very slim and sleek outer casings so that you see more of the screen than the plastic. a good example is the directed video 7" and the cko 6.5" screens.

anyone know if it makes a difference whether the monitor is vga or not?

BigFas

It does if you want to see more than 256 colours

Afif
03-05-2005, 10:40 PM
is 256 is sufficient for playing dvd's and stuff at reasonable quality [hmm?

BigFas

no. not at all. think of 256 colours as your Game Boy Advance console. Think of what you need to play DVD as the new PSP. Night and day difference

afif, fas mentioned the lillyputs for 66quid as they are a bargain at that price, he's got some on order, and if the quality is good enough, he'll probably fit them as part of his stg2 ice upgrade, likewise I'll get a couple and hook them up too.

just came across these guys.. alittle cheaper than CarAudioSecurity, even with the vat added...clicky (http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQfrtsZ0QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsassZmobilegadgetsQ2d uk)

2x5.8 necvox screens+dvd player for 257.99+vat (£303) pretty good deal me thinks!

thats the thing. Those £66 lilliput models seem not to be vga [hmm.

Which is good. non-VGA means they are NOT VGA which is a good thing
