Usually spark plugs are changed by the dealer at Inspection 2. If your's are not causing any problems, no real need to change them yet at 28,000 miles. However, I change my plugs every 15,000 miles. Why not, after all buying spark plugs off the internet is so much cheaper than getting my dealer to include the task in the Inspection.
It's DIY too (http://www.e46fanatics.com/howto/howtodetail.php?howto_id=44)
I like the Denso Iridiums. I find my engine smoother and idles better with them.

another ting..nick...how do i knw iam not overtighten the spark plugs??
its a good idea to use a torque wrench, when tightening them back up, i believe the bmw standard for spark plugs is 16-18lbs, maybe an idea to double check with a "official" bmw mechanic at ya local dealer.

I just feel for it. If it feels tight, it most probably is.
Metal expand when hot, so after a few rounds of expansion and retraction, the plugs will be well tight on the cylinder head.

torque wrench 18lbs
Huh??...as u can see I dont knw anyting about tools.....
I just got cheap and cheeful wrench..
Normally not too much of a problem. As Nick has said, just feel for when they are nice and tight (but not so that you would have to force them to untighten them). As long as you have tightened them enough then you'll be fine.
im looking to replace my plugs. Looking at the site how do i know which ones i need [hmm?

what's your engine code? Was it M43 or M44? For NGK, most likely BKR6EQUP (standard platinum) or BKR6EIX (iridium) as they are used for both
yea its M43. Also should i just get ignition coils from the dealer or is there better ones [hmm? I forgot to ask how many plugs i need?

I use the NGK Iridium IX ones, BKR6EIX, as mentioned above.
Definitely feels slightly smoother than the standard ones. Think they're about £7 each from www.sparkplugs.co.uk
ok cool is there any shops that sell these plugs? I find it easier than waiting for them to arrive .
