This is my plan for summer, I'm going to give my boot an Ice Cold treatment :D

Just got back from Car Audio Security with these....damn it's hardwork luggin' them [situp

They are doing some smashing Bank Holiday deals on car audio packages and JBL was one of them, the more you buy the more you save......I was going for just subs but ended up with a full install

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/111001.jpg

JBL GTO 6506 Ce 6.5" front components
JBL GTO 6526 e 6.5" rear co-axials
2X JBL GT412 12" 1000W subs
JBL GTO75.4 100W X 4 amp
2X JBL GTO 75.2 200W mono amps
Free wiring kits

Sold my sub boxes to a lurker in the shop for £20 each.....'psssssstttt, don't buy new, you can have my 'new' ones in 10 mins.....' :D :D

Total hardware cost me £350.......BARGAIN!!!

Now up to Andy to do his magic....... [ok

How do you like my new boot floor? :D :D

Not kidding, if you looking into ICE set-up check out their deals [cool

(Minus the £40 I got for the sub boxes)

OK JBL is not top of the range equipment but it will still sound 100X better than the Harmon Kardon which cost £640 to spec from the factory.

But it's the install which is going to be a blast, knowing Andy's skills

Yeah, even if it doesn't sound amazing (which I doubt) it'll look spot on with Andy doing on. Looking forward to seeing the results. :)

cool, nice one nick! are you gonna go for any tft screens?

peppernick
02-05-2005, 05:18 PM
Screen will be stage 2, mostly likely just one in the boot and use my exixting nav screen up front. I'm thinking of using the stock speakers on the bootlid for show purpose. Andy is going to intergrate a switch that allows me to switch on and off the cabin and external speakers independently. So come show time, the speakers will be blaring with the subs from the boot; other time, the boot lid speakers go to sleep :D

Nick that looks like a bit of a bargain, like Afif says i'd end up with one amplifier for that price

Heh heh heh.......I've got to start somewhere :D

I decided to put the money toward the install instead. Was looking at a full Alpine or JL Audio set-up but that would have cost me at least a grand. Heard some low end package today and I thought they are very good for the price. Thing about car audio I learnt is not to put equipment aside based on price, you've GOT to hear it first. A lot will surprise you.

However, it's the presentation that counts ;)

I've done my first mod :D :D :D

Ice Cold Audio decals on the other 2 amps.....SICK!

Precisely!

I'm bored to the back teeth of badge snobs saying "shoulda got this" or "this is better" blah blah blah.

IF it suits you, that's the main thing.

Nick, entry level or not, that equipment is going to kick arse! and the install I am sure will look off the chain! Let me know when you're doing it. This I want to see ;)

ALSO, only 1 sub? thought you were going for 2 x 12s?

peppernick
02-05-2005, 08:32 PM
Look closely and you will see another 12" stashed under the one on display. Still in box, unopened ;)

Yea i got to agree. Ive heard quite a few jbl set ups in some chavvy rides recently :p. 206, 106 and a saxo. I wasnt to impressed personally but agreed on one thing for the money it was definately appreciable.

Also they all installed it themselves so i doubt it was at full potential. Neways its definately going to have one over HK. Price will be similar once installed and it will visually look alot pimper .

My opinion now is i wouldnt want to pay loads for an install of equipment im likely to want to upgrade. Made that mistake once already [bang.

o and that sticker looks sick! Like it was always there

Was supposed to do it slowly, to saviour every minute of it; but the deal today was too sweet to pass. Like what Russell Peters said.....you don't buy today you come tomorrow and I say hey, the price has gone up :D

Only thing different was the retail scenario was the opposite, Indian behind the counter and Chinese buying ;)

Will start planning the install next weekend whilst you're away in Monaco :D

Yep, K is da man. I took a measuring tape there to make sure the amps fit my boot and he just said 'no problems, with the subs extending out x cm and the 4-channel amp sitting in front of the monos, you have y cm to play around with, you want some caps to go with it?'.......Damn, he knows his dimensions ;)
