i went to my parents yesterday evening and decided stay overnight.
i parked my car right opposite the house, about 15yards.
the road was sort of quite but it's not a small street, and it's well lit.
i was still a little concern as i had my cortina stolen about 13 years ago.
then i had my moped stolen 2 years ago all at my parents place.
but i though i am only staying one night it should be fine.
but when i woke up this morning and looked at my car, i realised something was not right.
something is missing.
just got back home and took a picture, it's abit dark but you can see what is missing.
i am so pissed off as i am about to sell my car. :(

WHAT THE HELL!!!
Oh my god, dude, that's f**kin' dispicable behaviour. You must be gutted. Death is too good for these tossers! I have NO idea how the bumper is attached to the bodywork, but it's obvious that it's hella easy to steal however it's done!

That is F***ed up man... You catch the people responsible you get them 'sorted out' if you know what i mean.
There are certain unwritten reals and one of them is quite simply that you DONT f*** with another man's car, you just dont do it.
I feel for you mate, i had problems with my old BMW that were similar to that, not quite as bad though.
very sorry to hear about it mate...

Damn man, that's dispicable
There was an M5 parked near my place last week and had it's front bumper, rear badges and side skirts stripped. E39 sport bumpers are not safe either. The problem is now as the E46 prices has tumbled, there's a HUGE market for cheap secondhand Sport bodykits and as a result, this happens. More so if the victim car has a popular colour like black and silver.
woah! fcukin hell! thats nasty man.. to remove the bumper surely, you need to access the bolts from within the boot? which should have caused the alarm to go off??? damn, these cnuts are gettin cheeky....

They are not petty thieves. Most are well connected to supply independent retailers and breakers with parts that are in demand. They have done this many times and they know exactly what they want.
Good thing about the E46 M3 is that body parts and wheels are highly specific to that model and other than the factory 19", other parts are worth jack shit. The rear valance for example could not even sell for £15 on ebay.

no, you don't need to acces the bolts from within the boot actually.
it's pretty simply to steal really.
so all you guys with black sport rear bumpers, better watch out!!!
i am desperate to look for one.
actually one of my mate told me that his friend had so many rear sport bumper that he just chucked one away in the middle of the field in luton yesterday night.
so he will try and look for it tonight and let me know.
otherwise i will just put back my old scratch up bumper for now.
peoples giving me funny looks tonight when i was driving back home.

FFS also sorry to hear about your bumper dude, life could do without stains like that ruining people's cars, nothing more you can say that hasn't already been said tbh, death is too good for the fkers. If I were you I'd keep an eye on Ebay and/or the local breakers - if one appears in your area I'd go asking wtf they got it...

thanks alot guys.
that's life sometimes i suppose.
just have to live with it.
i rather the fkers stole the whole car so i can claim insurance for it, since i havent touched the no claim protection for years.
mitsu, that bumper is for saloon, thanks anyway.
i already looked at ebay, nothing there when you want to look for it.

yep, i agree, anyone know if there is a way of adding a proximetry sensor of somekind to the existing alarm? or possibly having a separate one fitted, and hooking it up to the existing loom? [read

Sorry to hear about that buddy, pisses you off when you think people actually go out there to steal body parts!! Beemers should come with standard electric shocks connected to the alarms to fry the b$%&@ds if they touch your car [bang
Oh mate sorry to hear about this, thats pretty low to steal the whole bumper
I fitted parking sensors to my cousins car last weekend, so know how easy it is to get these things off if you know how. :(

So sorry to hear it mate, I can't really add anything of interest, its just so pathetic.

I was looking into making a little parking distance sensor for our garage a little while back involving the use of an ultrasound detector, I'm sure with a little bit of thought it could be rigged up as a proximity sensor for your car. In fact, you could probably get it to remember the distance it's sensing when you lock the car then if anything goes below that (ie closer) for a set amount of time (a few seconds) it somehow triggers the alarm (or does something). I'm sure its possible with the use of an ultrasound sensor and a few bits electronics chips and the like. I'll look into it further if people are interested..
Sorry about your bumper again mate, hope you can get it sorted as quickly and happily as possible.
Shuriken.
Edit: Another idea for that is have several sensors hooked up behind the major body panels, then it sets the alarm off if the panel moves. That could work too...

I used to have one of these on my bike years ago. I think it was called BigMouth or something, it used to blare out PLEASE MOVE AWAY when it sensed something close by. Cost a fair price to fit then but I'd had the previous bike nicked after a month so I wasn't cutting corners. I did find that it used to go off a bit randomly and scare the crap outta old people in the street if I parked it in town too close to a kerb (lol, parking in town, that shows you how long ago it was  ), so I didn't fit it to the next bike. No idea if the product still exists, I'm sure it must do, but they used to make them for cars too.

If you want an idea of it (it wasn't this specific one though, and this may be a bit overkill for what you may want on the car, but it does have an instant pager alert on proximity) - http://www.motorcyclegearreview.com/reviews.php?prodID=534. They aren't bad, worth considering if you start getting itchy about the car and whether the stinking *******s are gonna come back again.
hmm.. some interesting ideas guys, the pdc sensor one sounds ideal, as a sensor could be placed under each "big" body panel, one in each corner for the wheels would be nice too hehe, front/rear bumpers, one more on the bootlid, then one on the sides..
just will take alittle while to work out the logistics, yep would love to have a crack at this when i get some free time. [ok

It's definately possible tin, I thought about the "shock" sensor idea that Chaos has suggested but it would have to be mega sensitive to the extent where rain would set it off and stuff - not good.
A little brains unit hidden in the engine bay with a 9v feed could take sensor readings from 5 or 6 diff ultrasonic sensors placed behind main body panels (and the wheels if you really wanted ;)). It's definately possible. The problems I can see at the moment:
Getting a 9v feed to the chip.
Connecting it up to the alarm so it can set that off.
Checking sensor distances upon car locking.
I'm sure its all possible though, would be a cracking project to try.
Shuriken.
ps. sorry to hijack your thread mate :o
if your going aftermarket. Clifford alarms do it. IF you see Andy's smart car. It burps out when someone is looking in but can tell the difference if someone is just walking past. As for just the proximity addition so it works with bmw keyfob i dunno.

Nice, thats possibly a better alternative then, still like the idea as a project though :D

Until the BM, I have always fitted Clifford alarms to my motors. Come with proximity sensors and I have had shock sensors as well. The proximity are great if set up right as if you just brush past the car it sends out an audible chirp to warn the car is armed.
Have to admit, I didn't think it would be so easy to nick things like the bumper of the car so haven't really worried about it. But now, I think I may have to re-think.
