E46 Questions, I've Just Bought One...

Hi guys,

I bought a 2001 E46 325i SE for £4750! Here's a pic of her:

Anyway, i was wondering what i need to know about this model as this is my first one and need to know the important stuff... also what would you recommend doing to her to make her look mean :)

Im already on the case of getting a Saloon Sports Bumper with mesh and fogs, anyone know where i can get one? and im also looking at getting the 2nd gen enhanced angels from Teddy via Kay, are these the best angels?

Any more ideas/help appreciated.

Oh yeh, that was the other mod i forgot to mention i was going to do. Also, what wheels would you recommend, she has a set of 16's at the mo! :eek:

weldone mate 325 is a very smooth ride you'll love it it's much better than the early E46 323

have not heard anything wrong about the 2.5 engine but as all other E46 models check for front bush wear and ball joint play and rear top mounts as they are most common faults on E46.

angel eyes...hmm yes :) neginning the mods with minor items such as silver bulbs, induction kit, lowering srings, loads you can do to it

Cheers mate, yeh when i go over road humps im getting a knocking noise from the front passenger side, it's going into the garage in the next few days. I thought it was the bushes but now you have said that im sure it is. Is it an expensive fix?

yours was one of the early e46 thats came out so its a pre face lift. the face lift models have different headlights (the ones that have the indicators built into the headlight as one unit)

front bushes and balljoints are not that expensive to replace

if you get LED lights for the rear, i have the switch from when i had my e46 coupe. you need this switch for the LEDs to work. take a picture of your light switch and post it up, if its the same one, you can buy it off me for cheaper than BMW. i only had it on the car for about 9 months. i have advertised it in the buy and sell section

If he gets them off teddy he does not need the Switch;)

As they have resistor packs built in which negate the need for a Switch & Reprogramme.

you only need the switch on pre-2002 models if you install OEM LED units;)

1) The 325i has a tape player but a 6 cd changer in the back, is it easy to fit a new cd player in the front and connect it to the cd changer and button controls on the steering wheel? can it be one?

2) Also is £180 for a genuine e46 front sports bumper with fogs and mesh good? all i would need to do is spray it black.

1) Source a CD deck from ebay and it's plug and play.

2) Sounds pretty reasonable especially with fogs (they cost £50 each IIRC).

It had 118,000 miles. Looked on Parkers and WhatCar and the car was still worth £8000 private good so thought £4750 was a good price. Was i right?
