had a sqeake at the back for about two weeks so today took it to the garage put it on the ramp looked underneath and fuckin hell subframe mount passenger side rear is ripped out of chassis.............. bastard car is 5 years 1 month old how the hell can this happen?no rust or rot just clean ripped out!! yes i have read e46 fanatics and read all our american brothers views and heartaches £14000 down the fuckin drain......any how i see a german adolf im gonna punch him on the fuckin nose ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :mad:

man, that's horrible. What's the prognosis? Repairable under insurance or is it a write off?

Did you get the car from a dealer? Is there any HINT of a warranty?

Did you extend your warranty?

Welding is the only way forward. No expensive parts required but it's the labour. The entire rear axle has to come out and it will be a 2-3 day job. If you have to get it done yourself, speak to your local garage nicely. Don't go to dealer (they will charge). Then try to get an experienced welder somewhere else to do the job for you. A lot of them is willing to travel to your designated garage.

Insurance will not cover it as it's not an accident.

Sorry to hear about that but it's a real pain in the ass. Happened to my friend's 328 with 30K miles on it but his was sorted under warranty.

well i went to bmw this mornin and they sent me to there bodyshop in chesterfield they took my keys and ushered me to reception and the tea machine i sat there for what seemed hours then the manager returned handed me my keys and said sorry but we cant do your car till next week because thats when the hire car is available (i nearlly died WHAT NO ARGUMENT)he says it will take between 3 &5 days to fix they are going to put me a new rear cross member in it has to go on the jig aswell!!! this is all very well chaps but i havent mentioned to you all that i never bought the car new or from a bmw dealer or with any warranty!!!!! BUT bmw are still gonna fix it free of charge.... it seems there is some sort of 7 year warranty on the car and bmw have reconised this 3 series flaw....the manager allso said hes done 4 since his been there the last being an m3 which !!had ripped out BOTH rear bushes!!! allso a 318 so its not just 6 cylinders with the problem.... only cars around the 2000 mark they even took pictures of my car to send back to bm YIPEEEEEEEEEE ill keep you all informed
