Well, as a goodbye to the 330ci I thought I'd take some decent shots of her before she goes. Hope you enjoy....

Nick, was going to ask, I'm going for a late 2003/early 2004 M3. Anything I should be looking out for?

Alot of M3's around at the moment are R* ** *** registrations. Are these ex BMW staff cars?

Late 2003 and 04 cars are all OK. If you buy from dealer, there shouldn't be any issues. Just pick one with the cleanest interior, one where the leather is not shiny. Otherwise, you're on to a winner [ok

I would check to make sure it either has the newer type cylinder sleeves.. or has the updated bottom engine block.. there was a major engine recall a few months ago, I believe all CSL's and 53/04 build cars are fine... double check though!

But you all know, it's all about the 4-pots :D

Post June 03 cars all OK. Those lurking around that build date may or may not have the new big end bearings. But really makes no difference other than a slight inconvenience. Your car will be warrantied anyaway. If it blows up, get a new engine FOC ;)

I also heard that the pre recall cars are more aggressive in their power delivery. BMW down tuned the cars after the big end change.

What sort of down tune are we talking about? Noticeable?

Those who has drivien an earlier car have found that the throttle response is softer. Nothing you can do about it from a dealer. But this can be rectified by a re-map or power pullies. Trust me, there's more than enough power in reserve, unless you're aspiring to supercharge :D :D

There are still plenty of us inbetweens ;) . If everyone does go the M3 / 4 pot way then I'll have a true individual :D  .

Love the shots of the 330 though, nice scenery as well. Bet you can't wait to get your hands on an M though [bow .

Thanks for the comments guys.

For all the dealerships claiming that they're now selling "loads" of M3's, I've never seen so many on the forecourts. I met a "friend of a friend" last night who owns a dealership and suggested that good deals can be done on them at the moment. Probably why were now seeing the M3 CS. Pile of shite if you ask me.

Anyway, 330ci was fun, but not great fun. I can appreciate it's "tourer" qualities but I need some neck snapping action when the throttle is planted. Hopefully, I should get this from the M3!

Love the borders. Some great roads, some of the best in the UK for, ahhem, clearly sticking to the national speed limit. Let me know when you get the M and I'll do likewise and I'll pop through to Glasgow.

Seriously Teddy, if there's any thought of an EvoTechnik offical movie release at all, you guys gotta come up here. You can get some stunning footage, particularly with a good camera strapped to the panel just behind the front wheel arch!
