Hello guys. A very long and tiring day but EvoTechnik shone again with Mits taking home Best BMW (mild) title [ok

Congratulation m8 [cool

On behalf of EvoTechnik crew, I would like to thank all who came in person to support us at HIN and those who continues to support us via the forum.

Also, a big [ok to Lee and Sarah who came down from Manchester this morning to join the crew in presenting to the UK modding scene some tastefully modified premium automobiles. Andy of Ice Cold Audio, you're a star! Also, thanks to Sandy who supported us for the second time :) Thank you once again guys ;)

A good night out but various plans we had in mind on how to present ourselves cannot materialise due to the organisation of the event. HIN is supposed to be an up-market modified car show but in the UK, it's treated just like another Max-power event where quantity takes absolute precedence over the quality of cars on display. Those of you who has seen what HIN is all about in the US and had been there tonight will know what I'm on about.

Cars and teams were squeezed as tightly as possible so that they could get as many cars in as possible to make up the revenue from entry fees. Types of vehicles on display were jumbled up so badly that the original theme was lost. You get a Ferrari parked right up against a maxed out Nova.

We had a lot of mods that we want to show to the public but like all tastful mods, they don't shout. Unless you pay attention, it's easy to miss them. With the way our cars were stashed up against one another, it was just like watching cars in a parking lot.

Also, people who attended HIN the majority are not able to tell a quality mod form one that is done to grab the most attention with little taste if any. So with EvoTechnik cars the way they are, a lot of them had no idea what they were looking at (a good example was the Kellerners E39 M5 we had on display, this car is amazing to analyse), and would rather seek thrills from huge rear wings and pumping ICE that has no acoustic quality in the set up at all. In fact a lot of them are more interested in the girls than cars.

IMHO, in terms of appreciation of automobile tuning, the majority of the British show goers are waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy behind the quality of crowds found in such events over in the US. Somehow, I can't help but feel that they cheapen the whole car modifying anthem in the UK; hence many often associate UK modders as part of the pimped out Nova fraternity. I can see why.

Anyway, EvoTechnik will always be there to show the way forward. Modding is not about mega bodykits, massive ICE and raw performance but an appreciation of what a certain model is from the factory design board and finding ways to compliment and enhance the original design in various aspects ;)

Very proud EvoTechnik crew (+Teddy who was lurking behind some furry creature at that time) and the all important Best Mild BMW [cool

Well done Mits!

More updates to come ;)

Nick summed it up really.... Definately will take a few years to get to any decent respectable standard amongst tasteful modders but all in all was fun

ps. You guys couldnt even wait till morning to post even after being up and busy allll day! Madness.

Congrats to all the Team especially the "Crew", for all the hard work you put in & BigUp to Mits the Winner!! [cool [cool

Well done crew [banana

Sounds a touch disappointing, considering the quality of Evotechnik cars. If the "Max" theme was not focussed on as much, perhaps the quality of those enhancements would shine.

Nonetheless, a job well done and something for the team to be proud of [cool
We're all proud of the rides in Evotechnik... most importantly, the people.

Side Note: Next time, take a battered Nova [bang

Nice one guys and well done Mits!!

I think to a certain extent it was destined to be as Nick described, especially if you were all jumbled up. Surely the organisers could have sectioned the cars off?! If they did it certainly would have done your cars more justice, as joe public only seem to be interested in bodged mods and heavy ice.

Anyway, its worth showing them the proper way to mod, congrats on the trophy once again :)

Superb!! Was gonna text you last night to find out if anyone had won - well done Mits that's thoroughly deserved!! [banana

Nick's points are bang on, that event needs a lot more space and much better organisation to do some of the cars there justice.

A big well done to everyone who prepared long/hard for this event (supposedly a 8am start for contestants). Nick's post sums it up and I too felt that there were too many low end cars for 'rice show'. RIPSPEED (Halfords) had the biggest stand selling undercar neon kits so u can imagine the target market for this event. Apart from a few, very few, I really didn't see any top end cars that were modded as they were company sponsor/event cars and mods were limited to few stickers. If u want to win lots of trophies at HIN then you'll probably need ridiculous body kits that u never want to be seen in, neons, chrome wheels with an extra spinning wheel caps, big subs/TVs sticking out of your glove box, Christmas lighting in your engine room, fake NOS bottle, pink leatherette seat covers and body decorated in fluffy 'Finding Nemo' theme (oh, I forgot to mention a bunch of Essex girls with no shame  ). In any case, it was good to see everyone again but I got told off by my wife for not getting her any tofu last night

Well done boys,Mits came through and so did all of you in my book. As nick said most of them dont know what to look out for when you start modding its got to look right, got to flow with the lines of the car, thats what i think in a nut shell its all about having (TASTE ) And Evotechnik has the most. To add my congrats to Mits, extremely well deserved, and the look on his face when his name was announced, priceless :)

I can't really add too much to Nick's post, mainly because I've just been woken up by my son and am really groggy :) but Nick has definitely summed up everything. What astonishes me is we've been in constant touch with the organisers for literally 4 months or so telling them what we wanted etc, but it's quantity over quality. It's frustrating when there is a crew like EvoTechnik who fund the modding of their cars personally, who do it for the love of the game, but the prize winners are the larger crews who are actually companies selling their wares. Don't really understand, but hey.

Having said all that, was an awesome day, we had a lot of fun, thanks to all the forum members who made it, especially Raj, Doctor Matt, MattH, Karim (and friend) who travelled major distance to make it down.

Andy, you rock! You did so much for us on the day, and my screen in the boot got MAD attention. Also thanks to Lee and Sarah, I think Sarah made my car the most popular of the show by posing next to the boot install, I think every horny male that was there has her pic standing next to my car :D

Will upload my fave pics later today :)

And good job to the rest of the crew. I couldn't show my car with a better bunch of people. You guys kick butt!

Oh. Watch out for a feature soon of my car in Redline magazine :D

me and raj throughly enjoyed it and we were glad to come down to support the evotechnik crew.

just one thing... my f***ing EARS !!!! and i was only there for 4 hours, i feel sorry for you guys who were there from early till late.

thanks to nick who let me have 5 mins quiet in his car with the windows up !

enjoyed the evening, had a giggle at a few cars, was fun. :D

p.s

just so i did not dream it in bed last night, can somebody confirm they did actually park a 'G' reg jaguar next to tin's car which featured plastic diamonds stuck on with glue, alligator interior, neons and a fire extinguiser in the boot with a NOS sticker on ?

Congrats out to Mits for winning, wicked mate! [jam [jam
Well done to the rest of the crew too! shame we didn't win more, but hey, we all got cars we're proud off, thats the main thing! [jam

Agree, the wild/mild e36 verts that one the other awards were pretty much identical, bar colour.. eh?

Big thanks to everyone who came out to support Evotechnik, quality of its members and its knowledge here, its what makes the forum tick!

Was a very very long day, with plenty of drama too! :)

The only way to gurrantee winning a prize, is to have the biggest spoiler possible fitted, along with lambo doors, and pretty much 4 xmas trees inside, with the full works [crackmeup

The Hall was way too small for the no of cars entered, either have a bigger hall, or limit the no of cars entered.

Cheers

couldn't agree more with Nick there. We even need to move our cars out in order to clean them properly. Anyway we had great fun and time seemed to pass a lot quicker than last year lol

Important thing is we didn't go home empty handed and Evotechnik will always be at major UK shows to represent ourselves. One day we will make our appearrance at one of the shows in Europe for show.

Thanks again to all the people who turned up especially those who had to travel distance. :)

Right, just got up....got a sore throat, my ears hurt and I got a headache :D

Still makes it all worthwhile to win a trophy not just for me, but for the crew. Thanks to everyone for coming down, even if I did'nt get to meet you all [hiya

Agree with all the comments made by Nick and I can't believe this year the same E36 M3 vert won because he had GUCCI interior  The maxpower silver vert we looking at when signing in also won, which gives an idea about the focus of the show.

However, the event is one the highlights of the year and if any of you had any doubts about Teddys or Roys product.....tastefully done they can win you a trophy :D [ok

Thank you the crew and members, you guy/gals are the best [hiya

I lost count on the number of things Andy fixed, add'd to my car through out the day!

Sorry guys.. not many pictures of the other cars, used most of the space on my camera for Vid's.

It was also most excellent to meet up with some of you again and meet some new peeps - Lee/Sarah/Harsha [hiya .

Right..

My photos from the night are up at www.otaiba.com/hin

You need to view in IE 5+ and if allow the ActiveX control to be downloaded and installed to be able to get all the features.

If you see an 'x' where the image is, then just wait while the app caches everything from the server.

And... um... sorry.. I got distracted by the women... and nudey ones a friend took! But at least my photo's are a tad bit more decent than last time :)

Congrats Mits on the trophy.

Its a shame but I dont think the UK is ready for sensible modded cars. Big spoilers is where its at for the UK modding scene I think.

Tell anybody you mod cars and they automatically assume you have a Nova with big exhausts and M3 mirrors. I dont think we will ever get to the stage where the US is with their modding.

Anyways congrats to everyone.
