Well finally, after a very long time of prattling on about wanting one i took the plunge today and bought myself this. Shold be getting it next Saturday afternoon! I have a couple of photos that i took with my phone that i will put up later on. Got to go and calm down for a bit now as well. As another treat i am taking this and Dad is taking the SL55 to the 'Ring on the 10th August.

http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/car_details/0,,1260_159980100__sit-bmwuk,00.html?currentCh=WBSDE92000CB37311

absolutely chuffed to bits, and this thing sounds like thunder and is an animal!

Many congratulations Alex!! :D :D Lovely colour combo too!

I know you've pined for one for ages, the noise of the V8s must have made you drool at the Ring.

Really chuffed for you. Pax lap ? :D

PS: Spooky: Durgesh's old 330 vert has reg. plate LF02 DKD!

Yes. Won't fit on the M5, so that means to buy some more Eisenmanns later on this year - Race level of course!

Why not sell it separately? It will go in a flash on here or ebay. Do you have the original exhaust?

the original exhaust was put in the scrap at work. It requires a lot of welding to fit and remove

You know my thoughts on this mate - so so happy for you :D .

I had a text this morning at around 10:30 that simply said "M5 M5 M5 M5 M5" followed by a phone call. He admitted he was actually shaking and he hadn't even signed the paperwork :p . I think he phoned me as he got out of the car after the test drive  .

I can 100% relate to how you feel mate. You know how much I wanted an M3 and I know exactly how much you have wanted an M5 - well, you have done it. Wait until you get the keys to your very own M, you will never stop smiling ;) .

We will have to meet up so I can be shown around the beast.

possibly an exhaust, but the stock one sounds good at the moment. Definately BBK's. It may be a fast car, but it is a lot of weight to haul in on corners, and not sure how good the oem brakes are yet, Going for a test run to the 'Ring in two weeks to see what's what!

few other bits and bobs, but ave got to consider my AUC warranty that i do not want to void, so may have to wait a while for some mods

pretty good as standard though :D

Not good. If you drive the M5 the way it should be driven, the discs will warp in no time. A lot of weight and momentum to slow down!

A driver's woe (http://forum.bmwcarmagazine.com/viewtopic.php?t=28961&highlight=) and and then some (http://forum.bmwcarmagazine.com/viewtopic.php?t=23499&highlight=).

Keep those VTTR Alex, at worse all you need are just new caliper carriers. At best, they might go right on ;)

oh dear! Got a trip in two weeks time so they will probably be dead by then. Will try the brakes, maybe monday when i have the wheels done. Would be nice if they bolted straight on, i don't see why they shouldn't to be honest.

think the blue BBK's with LMB paint will work too!

Alex, I've just checked on REALOEM, the caliper carriers and kingpins are of different part no. for the 530 and M5. However, it may be other aspect of those components that differ and not where the caliper bolts onto. Reassuringly, the front BBK upgrade from StopTech has the same part no. between the 530 and M5. So which means every part in that kit are interchangable between that of teh 530 and M5, and the caliper carriers are one of those parts.

Well here are a few pics, from my phone so not great quality.

The Alpinas, imo, really suit the Le Mans Blue paint even better than they did the Titanium silver. The BBK's are on, not sure whether if i was starting again i would buy blue for a blue car, but they will ceratinly do for now!

That looks very understated but you know the firepower you have under the hood! Perfect stealth machine :D

A little more drop would be nice ;)

You may also want to consider spacing the rear wheels out a bit more as the OEM M5 rear tyres are wider and the rear wheels have a more aggressive offset; so not to destabilise the ass end.

Overall, I'm so glad the BBKs fit  THE most important upgrade for an M5 IMO.

Exactly the look i was going for, and one that i love about the M5! I had some trouble with drpping the 530i, looked great but BMW threatened to cancel my extended warranty over it - so going to wait with the M5, got two 'Ring runs in August so will see how it handles.

What spacers would you suggest Nick? Never really looked into it or anything, so don't really know what to get.

I was so chuffed when the BBK's went on. Was only supposed to be swapping the wheels over, but the BBK fell into the boot last night and we tried one side...hour and a half later it was done!
