View Full Version : New Product...sprint Booster
CA Automotive UK

Now this is a good product we think, the Sprint Booster module and we are stocking them now.
Will fit any BMW with "fly by wire" throttle, simple to fit and gives essentially the same effect as the Sport button on an M3, increasing throttle actuation speed and response.
£135 + vat
We would like a forum member to try one out and provide a testimonial, if you are up for this then we will sell the one unit at just £105 Plus vat.

Still don't see the point on an ///M Car, as if having to press a button is such a chore to do...

So you get in the car and drive it, but first you have to press the fast button, then you get out turn the car off to go to the bank, get in push the button. It gets on my tits that is the point, it is not a chore it is just an action I would like to forget about.

Like I said "each to their own"
I look at it this way, £123/158 for one way or £0 to have the choice of both.
Great mod for non ///M Cars.

I did look at installing a switch that would leave it set to sport or "M" all the time but it looks like to much hastle hence the interest

Can this be disabled too - like a proper sport button?
If the option has not been taken up, I wouldn't mind trying it on my oil burner :)

If i had my car re-mapped would it do the same thing? or part of the re-Map?
As i've thought about re-mapping a '04 325i but dont think the gains are worth it. or are they??

I always think it is worth remapping a car. Even if it is not for all out extra BHP/Torque, it will always make a huge difference to the way the car accelerates as it smooths out the response.
As for this device, it will perform as the sport button on the M cars, which means it will decrease the amount you have to press the accelerator for the same level of acceleration (if I am not mistaken), so you would still need to remap your car.

hi
personally i must agree that this item seems a bit of a waste on the M3, ideally would like to try it on a different car :)
Remapping will NOT give the same effect. It is always a good idea to remap the car, especially a diesel. We charge £450 for this, and we come out to you.
Can be disabled by unplugging it, but I am guessing would noyt be difficult to rig up a dash mounted button too :)

are these not essentially the same idea as the resistor mods?

Roy,
Could you please findout more about getting it working with a dash mounted button? I do like the idea of this device, but with a diesel I think I'd probably keep running out of revs with this on all the time! Now a button (like on the M3) would be superb...so I can turn it off when using the car normally! (and a sport/power button would look very nice too! :D
If a button is possible, then I am VERY interested!

Would it not have the same effect as using "sport" mode on the gearbox on the 530's?

Not really. The Sport mode in your 530 changes the way the gearbox react to throttle input. This device only increases throttle exponential (http://forum.evotechnik.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=2089&d=1125075579).

So in lay mans terms the power delivery is stronger and smoother due to the butterfly having a larger opening at the various pedal positions?
The graph comparison is quite impressive - what will I notice in everyday driving?

The sport button on an Auto box essentially allows the box to change up at higher revs and to maintain revs for longer before changing. On some models it also changes the speed of the shift.
The sprint booster is different concept entirely, it changes the ratio of throttle pedal movement to throttle body opening ( the "gearing" if you will), so you get more throttle opening for less pedal travel.
This unit should work on all cars that have "fly by wire" throttle, on BMW this is most models built after year 2000.
thanks

quick semi update
Just got back from Brussels late last night to find the sprint booster waiting for me. Looking at the instructions, seems as there is a bolt on the front of the pedal, which once removed will allow me access to the pedal itself.
Looking at the car today, i don't have that bolt, so am investgating right now, how to get the access to the plug behind the throttle.

had a look at the pedal assembly and can't figure out how to take the pedal out! This is what I have
http://bmwfans.info/original/images/105471_p.png
According the instructions, there should be a bolt at the bottom of the pedal, but this doesn't have one.
the only screws i can see are the ones down the side of where the number "1" is pointing, but they are torx screws with the bit in the middle and I don't have the tools to remove those.
Any ideas? it's a 2002 valvetronic 318 and I have a feeling that it marked a change in the assembly of the accelerator unit :(

Fas, try prying out the bottom piece, should be clipped on; the screw is underneath it if there is one, unless the entire base is now clipped on.

I've spent the last 45 minutes trying to fit this thing. Bottom line. I just can't get the accelerator off. There's no clip behind the pedal (i've got a pic I'll upload it later). In between checking 101 websites, real-oem etc etc. I just cant suss it out.
I'll return the product to Roy and let someone else pick up the gauntlet :(
