Hi guys,
I'm looking to get an AUX port for my Z4, now there seem to be 2 types. One is just a cable with the socket at the end which BMW can find easily on the system.
The other is fundamentally the same but at the end of it is an ashtray with the aux port integrated into it.
Here is a PIC and also the instruction manual from BMW.

Now i cannot quite make out the Part number at the bottom of the manual. I asked BMW about 01 29 0 309 665 but nothing came up.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey Fas,
That is the one that is easy to find, but i was kind of hoping i would not have to screw anything into my dash and have a nice hidden port in the ashtray.

just checked for you mate and the part you want isnt an oem bmw part. it looks like a part that has been made by an aftermarket company. that only one that is available is the one fas listed and the one with an ipod dock connection with full control. i'm sure one can be made though!

Cheers guys,
Andy, if it is a 3rd party part, why are there official BMW instructions on how to install it? I am just curiouse thats all. I'm sure "one can be made" ;)

i'm pretty sure there are official bmw part numbers for the manual because it is easier for them to link it to the oem instructions as they are going to be the same.

Strange that the manual says that the ashtray wont be used again in the instructions.
To be honest the aux cable only costs £8 and they claim that there is an ashtray with a blanking plate rather than a hole for the cig butt. I could drill through that and mount it on there. I will see.

If you look at the propeties of the pic you posted the part number is in the name http://www.bavauto.com/assets/imglib500/82110142174.jpg
I should have been a detective:)
The etk shows the part number as audio cable aux adapter z4
The other part number you posted is just the p/n for the manual

Well i have called BMW again and they say the part number is either wrong or old as it does not come up on their system.
Bummer as that would have been ideal. :(
I have attached the fax they sent me from their parts system.
