Just wanted to know what problems people have had with aftermarket LED clusters and how they overcame them.
Also what have people done with the rear cluster interior covers? Mine are bare at the moment as the original ones don't fit onto the replacement LED lights.
Is there a cover available for these?
I have a problem where my Brakelights are intermittent but have been advised to disconnect the battery for 20mins or so and re-connect and that should do it. Anyone had success with this?
Thanks
I have heard of these problems before with aftermarket LED's. I believe nickelback has decided to go for OEM ones now as he had the same problem (I think). E46Fanatics users said they had the same sorts of issues. Something to do with resistors.
As for the lack of cover on the interior (well that is just the way they are). You could try and get some made up.
To be honest, I just paid the extra to have the OEM ones as I wanted it to be hassle free and the interior cover (as it just looks neater). I had to buy a new switch as well as my ride is a 2000 so LCM is not compatible (cost me an extra £170 :( ).

Yep, plenty of problems with my OEM ones.
Had to have a new switch fitted like Raj but still didn't fix.
When I turn my car on, the back lights flash up and down for about 10 seconds.
BMW can't get the obc dash light off either, even though they sell this kit! They recon if I take out my Umnitza projector headlights, they can flash the rear ones and get rid of the OBC. What a load of crap!
They do look good tho
Kris_d, were yours retro-fitted or from the factory? I am fitting mine tomorrow and it's booked in to get the ECU flashed tomorrow as well. Am a little worried now. Hopefully should all go straight forward, but just wondered whether you have had the problems from the start?

Mine were from a friends '04 car. They're the exact ones that BMW will sell you in a retrofit kit!
You can also get the boot covers with the boot light for about 8quid each from BMW. Yours should be fine, my local BMW (chigwell) garage is full of ***** who don't know what they're doing!
Ahh. I bought the complete OEM retro-fit kit which has the LEDs, covers and bootlid lights.
Will see what happens tomorrow.

I got some OEM Leds and fitted them to my car myself, only problems im having is the rear lights warning on the dash and when i start the car the rear lights kinda flash from side to side for a few seconds. The dealers wanted £50 to reflash the ECU (5 min job????) so i left it for now. Most people think the way the rear lights flash look cool anyway! [cool

It actually does look pretty good when they flash
Good luck

Kris, I think they way they flash is awful and really lets your car down. However, I'll provide a service whereby I give you £100 and I'll take those nasty lights off you ;)

Lee330, I know this is totally out of theme, but how does the car run with the new diff? Do you get much wheelspin?

Yeah Silver, it's Sytner Chigwell.
Parts department are helpfull yep, but everyone else there is a sh*t - c**t.
Many, many times I've actually been more knowlagable about a problem than they have and I don't even know that much about cars!
Parklane's not a bad idea actually! I work pretty close to park lane so could leave the car with them! Could also pick up a nice Park Lane BMW tax disc holder while I'm there!

Refer to my thread in Car / Parts for sales forum for answers. I found a source of OEM units who will supply you if needed.
I'm waiting for the parts to arrive & when fitted will give an update.
Will suit coupe's & verts post 2001 only

So whats the verdict on these ? At £170 and no reprogramming needed, they're a lot more appealing than OEM ones. But cant stand any glitches -- so should I just avoid ?
Teddy mentioned there's "issues" with some cars only - anyone know for definite which cars have issues, and which don't ?

Faisal,
I have had problems, copies would not work with my car (330 Clubsport Jan 03) properly, ie brake light would sometimes work, sometimes not !!!!
So I have now gone for a set of OEM's (4 x) with wiring loom convertors (cost £325) which I am fitting today & my local dealer is doing a re-prog.(£20)
Let u know tonight if all OK ?
I fitted OEM ones on Tuesday and had the ECU flashed the same day. There are no issues at all with them on my car (and it is a 2000 car - so before LEDs were introduced). As it is pre 2001 I have had to buy a new switch but otherwise they work a treat  .
Deffo worth the extra in my book. You can add the extra module like the one Nick (peppernick) is selling to make full use of them as well.
