Hi, a friend of mine has just bought a 1995 Golf VR6.
He's asking what would the best mods be to get more power and what sort of prices he'll be looking at,

Thanks for any help

I'll be watching this thread with interest as a friend of mine is currently looking to buy a VR6 as well.

Same basis as any other make of care really - intake/exhaust then re-map to use the better breathing. You could spend up to 2k for all of that if you go top end, or tailor it down to maybe 1k-ish if you want to tighten the purse strings.

After that you've got the more hardcore line, but tbh I'd be looking at a more hardcore car as a better use of my money if the above still doesn't cut the mustard.

CAI
Exhaust
Sport Cats
Remap
Cams
It's like any other NA 6 cylinder engine, unless you go forced induction - turbocharge or supercharge, the gains are not great. AMD is a good aswell as Stealth Racing.

ok first its a chip replacement in the VR6. What kind off budjet does your mate have ? If budjet can allow it VF do a supercharger kit for the vr6. This is how vf started Nick Sarin use to own NS racing developed the supercharger for the VR6 and took it from there. Below is a link on the charger contact Regal Autosport ask for Chris Say ben put you in touich he will look after you.

For VW, AmD / Stealth Racing / Jabbasport or Awesome Gti. As for mods, it really depends upon budget. Standard stuff like exhaust, intake or remaps. If you've got more to spend then Schrick/VSR manifold, Schrick Cams, etc is a good way to go also. After that forced induction.

i've not had a chance to speak to him about budget, but as there's so much i'll point in the forums direction so he can see for himself.

Schrick Manifold, related cams and remap. Along with and Exhaust should see 200 ish bhp. Above this would need a super charger.

There is so much you can do if his budjet allows it I really do recomend going for the charger kit

I'd imagine that would be his route because he's always had turbo'd cars
