my new car im picking up has the bluetooth option on it. The chap im dealing with said it can only be used in conjunction with the relevant snap in adaptor. Is this right? im not too bothered about charging it. I thought the idea of bluetooth is that it is wireless.

No bluetooth is wireless. The snap in adapter is just there to charge the phone.
