Looking good.

997TT Wheels, are you sure... won't look right on the 996 IMO. Go aftermarket, BBS Racing Wheels look the absolute dogs on the 996 and are available in both 18" & 19" sizes. ;)

I've got a set of 18" GT2 Wheels if your interested, 12" Rears & 8.5" Fronts to really fill those arches out...

These things weigh such little and most remarkably [documented somewhere, can't be arsed to search lol], they lose very little power through the 4x4 drive-train in contrast to say VW/Audi haldex/quattro ....... Lovely car Robin, many congrats :)

hi how does it compare to the m3 in terms of speed?

dont know yet m8, off up to gairloch for the weekend, a wee highland fling!!
i will let you all know!!
i much prefer the porker to the m3 though, you feel so much more planted, ie stuck to the ground!

i have just bought oem gt3 seats in the magenta blue, the same as the original interior, so they should give a lot more suport over the sport seats i have now, so thats the start of the spending!! £1200 in the first day!!!

I would have no fear from a std M3 or csl in the porker :) a delimited m3/csl may have the legs on my car 175mph over 180+mph in a beemer, but the 4would would kick ass in the wet (imho) of course!!

but then again i am bonkers!! and the porker has MUCH better brakes!

Brembo are standard on his Porsche...

robinh20mrv
15-06-2007, 05:08 AM
well.........

i have 6 pot brembos on the porker, but a smaller disc area, and 4 brand new sets of pads and dics, they are the same as the turbo brakes, BUT.

so far i would say the M3 brembos are the winners :) they are the daddys!!
perhaps that will change once they bed in, but the M3 brembos as the best brakes i have ever used without doubt!

but the porky brakes and WAY better than std M3 brakes!!

I can vouch for that, I test drove 3 M3's last week with standard brakes, for a car with so much power they're terrible  , standard Porky brakes (even on my Coxster) are much better than standard M3 brakes.

Love the 996, As much as I like the e46 M, I've always had a soft spot for the 911.

If i ever win the lotto I'm definitely looking for a 993 GT2 :D

I shocked you say that - the all the Boxsters and Boxster S' I have driven have had poo brakes - no where near as good as the standard M3 brakes - The 911 breaks on the C4S are awesome though they seem to slow the car down in an abnormally fast fashion - very nice but then they were made for a mega powered 996 Turbo so they should be fappin good.
