hi folks, bought a m3 e46 without satnav which i thought dont really need it, but when i saw it on another one i had to have it. So, my dilemna is to get one retrofitted by bmw. Henry bros in Glasgow have said 2200+vat for the parts and 8 hours of labour, which i know is a rip off. I was told be a member of yours that someone on the site has done it DIY and someone else supplys and fits who is it???? Please,Please help me.

Tin and h4pry will give you the specifics but there's a short thread HERE (http://sankeys.demon.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=1040)
You will have to source all the parts from ebay etc. Buying them new from dealer you'll end up spending thousands.
Are you keen on aftermarket?

To do the retrofit with all the latest gear will cost in the region of £1500 to £1800 and that will get you everything including latest DVD map disc drive and 16:9 aspect widescreen CD/MP3 headunit.
If you know what you are doing I recon you could do the entire install within 4 hours and thats with a new nav loom and not the retrofit after thought one.
I am thinking of taking all mine out and going for something different. [bang
PM me with an offer if you like ;)

u could buy an aftermarket sat nav kit for less something like an alipne or pioneer which will give you a 7" touch screen mp3 player line out sub out etc etc and would cost less then the quote you got from bmw, or take harpy up on his offer :-)
