Got them fitted today, these are prototypes. Massive thanks to Roy at CA Automotive for the opportunity to try them out :) :)
They are true cat-back, but since the cats on the E46 are intergrated into the manifold, these pipes basically join the down pipes to the rear box. Bypass both front and rear resonator, 3 inches in diameter and very high flow.
The acoustics is one to drool over, but they also give the engine so much more go

Plus my exhaust sytem now is nearly 40lb lighter than the stock system :woot: (those resonators and stock pipes weigh a ton!)
Sound clips to follow :)
Many thanks to Fas to those awesome video footage!

Nick, didn't you replace the standard cats with SS sport cats a while ago?
resanator=silencer in English right? Your car now has only one if I'm not mistaken and it's got a race sound rear box . I don't think you'll pass the MOT noise test :(
And I know it's underneath the car but that clamp looks a bit tacky. Is there anything else they could have done instead or is it because you're just testing these?

I had the Supersprint cats on before I realised the factory cats are integral parts of the manifold, the garage who did it for me compared my car with an E36 Evo and welded them on. Thinking back, no wonder they had so much problem getting them to fit because they were not even designed to go onto the OEM downpipes! For 4 months I was running 4 cats and my engine was suffocating. I took them off last year.
I'm still adjusting the length and spacing of the pipes hence the clamps, just to assess clearance before and after the pipes heat up. Once everything is positioned properly, the joints will be welded.
MOT........well we shall see when the time comes, I'm flexible as long as he's flexible ;)

Good thinking bat man, watch out for those sleeping policeman / speed bumps too.
I de-catted one of my previous cars but knew someone who would turn a blind eye for the mot. :D Used to pay him £10 for his efforts ;)

dude be careful the 501 are now doing random checks onthe roadside if they check your emissions and findthem sky high your be a bit fucked, also i doubt many MOT places will sort u out its not worth them risking there MOT station for anyways looks good and sounds good just be careful around the MOT time

My cats are stock, so emission has not changed. I've only bypassed the resonators which do nothing to C0 content. Noise wise, well can't be louder than the 360 CS or some swooped up Imprezas/Evos ;) If worse come to the worse, just bolt on my standard exhaust (which is easy to change now I have the entire system in my attic :D )

I was at PRC, CA's workshop in Surrey. I saw a brand new M3 undergoing an exhaust change though, to a GruppeM.
