Went to stratstone in windsor today and they had 2 new X5's just come in as demonstrators. They're one of the first dealers to get them as they aren't officially released until the end of may.

I can honestly say from the outside, they look like crap :( the front wings are a sight to behold. They are extremely bulbous.

What was extremely interesting is that the new X5 doesn't have a full front bumper. The front wing also incudes the front fog lights so looking at it from the front, from the bottom to the top, it's all wing. A slight knock and the entire front wing needs to be replaced. All in all looks very strange.

Interior is exactly the same as the 5 series, so no drama there. The current X5 is SO much nicer, and I know designs normally grow on individuals, but honestly, the new X5 is just looks like a lump of lard.

No, as the official pics have already been released, so not like I was discovering anything earth breaking, just really letting people know that reality was far different from pics

Thought you might have got some pics with your new found camera skills! :p Rather than the press photos.

Was on my way back from a meeting in Woking so just took the opportunity to pick up some brakes / pads. Need to go next week for some other stuff, will take my camera for shizzle

You can see the front wing now incorporates the side 3rds of the front bumper. A big old boat

I know what you mean, but I never thought I would like the (E60) current 5 Series, thought it was pig ugly when it 1st came out.

However, I quite like them now and would have one if I was in the market for that kind of car.

I too am not too fond of the new X5 at the moment, but I'm going to give it a couple of months

Totally agree Fas, was at Victoria in MK and they had one just arrive.

Doesn't compare to the current model imo, just looks so tame and odd. It does mean that the current model prices should be more attractive and i'm gearing up for a 4.6i !! :)

i have test driven new x5 and i have to say

x5 < MB ML < MB GL

decided to go for MB GL 420 CDI

x5 with 3.0 diesel is to slow, you can barely feel any acceleration. i dont know how it is with 4.8 petrol engine, but i worry its not better
