e36 328is power upgrades

Hi i have been looking to get more power out of my 1998 328 sport
but it has a auto gear box . So i think i dont have too many options can any one help ? :confused:

speak to alpina527 on either this or more likely e36coupe.com forum. He offers the best upgrade for you £££. big bore throttle body's and enlarged manafold plus a cone and heatsheild will give you +15-20bhp. \then you can opt for a remap.

fit a 325 manifold, good for 10-15bhp straight away.

Info from when i enquired

Bbtb/manifold kit £325 with exchange throttle body.

Bbtb/manifold kit with ASC (Traction Control) £375 with exchange throttle body.

With both of the above options, I will need your old throttle body and plastic icv chamber/seal returning to me after fitting. If you have ASC, I will also need the ASC unit.

Pas relocation bracket for E39 5 series £15 (Not required for E36 323/328)

If you prefer to keep your old parts, please add £50 for the throttle body, £50 for the ASC unit, and £15 for the icv cover.

The manifolds are second hand. If you prefer a brand new manifold, then please add £210 to the overall price.

New manifold to head seals are £25 per set of 6.

Fitting is £100

Also worth getting a remap as it suposedly transforms the auto box (im waiting til i get everything else done)

Everyone with a 28 has to do the Bbtb/manifold kit mod!

Yep Ian's kit is the best value mod you can do, inlet manifold and the throttle body together get you some 20 - 25 bhp.

Remap, exhaust, pulley set and intake will all add another approx + 20 bhp

Sorry, this mod will only work on the single Vanos engines. That means all E36 323/328 models. E39 523/528 up until mid 98, and the 2.8 Z3 up until mid 98.

BTW, It works very well on auto models.

All fitted now taken it out for a test drive .
after 4000 rpm my car would seem to run out of steam but now pulls like a train all the way to red line .;)
Very pleased with it and would say to anyone thinking about fitting it go for it :D

Yep you can fit US m3 cams, I have some but not fitted to the car yet.

I got mine from Alpine527, as he knows which ones will go in, they are similar to schrick one dont cost as much :)

yep standard US spec M3 cams ( must be US spec) fit and work really well; not quite as good as the schrick items but less expensive.
