Bit of a story but I will 'try' and keep it brief.
Knowing I would soon need to replace the tyres on the 118 and that our current wheels need to some work to get them back to a condition that passes my tests I was scouring ebay for some new 16" wheel with tyres. There didn't seem to be anything suitable in 16" but there were a couple of sets in 17".
One was a brand new set of 17" with brand new tyres and the others were second hand but mint with pirelli euphorias and a good 6mm left which would see us until the car goes (edges looked fine :P ) in style 142 which are very attractive 5 spokes and my favoured wheel.
The type 142s were the first to finish and I was beaten on the auction as I didn't want to exceed my upper bid limit of £400, they went for £410 and I kicked myself :( .
Nevermind thought I, the second set, even though brand new and IMHO less attractive were next and I got ready to bid. The price was currently £350 with 2 minutes to go. It gets to 90 seconds to go to auction end and I hit refresh - £650 - :( . They actually went for over £850.
I was gutted as I missed the first preferred set and now had naff all :( .
So, I ordered some new tyres to mount on our current 16s.
Fast forward to today, still no tyres delivered so I check my email and I have been sent a second chance offer for the first set of wheels (my preferred ones) that I was outbid on at £410.
Suffice to say, rang mytyres first to see if I could cancel the order. I was then informed the goodyears I was after were out of stock so I quickly cancelled said order and clicked on the buy it now for the new rims :D .
So, hopefully by the weekend my 118d will have these wheels. Obviously this means that come trade in time, BMW can have the scabby tyres back on the 16s - their penance for setting the suspension badly :p .
From these :(
