After a long trek down (2.5hrs) tired and very sleepy, got here to be greated by a massive turn out for the event, man this RWYB day was packed.
Immediatly found Raj, Lee and Paul, who had spotted Roy already in the que! (Who said he cant get outa bed????)
Roy's banana sounds amazing, and boy that SC vert was quick a 12.8 run was immense.
Decided not to run mine just purely because it was soooo busy.
Nick then turned up for the action with Andy and managed to get in the que with Lee and Raj
Nick you 335d is 'absolutly gorgous' its awesome now let alone in a year when you will have done more stuff.
Roy was hitting 13.3 same as Lee if i remember correct was a really good day again.
Its always a pleasure to meet everyone your a great bunch its worth the journey to be around such nice people. Sorry Digs and Ali only got to literlly say hi as you arrived when i was going, had to make sure i got back in time.

Fook was it busy or what
Was good to put names to faces again.
Nick - Your car is too posh, get rid of it :p
Lee - Thats one mean lean machine you've got there
Raj - Lovely ice install
Russ - Great looking 318CI
Roy and Giv - Didn't get to see your car run in the flesh, was a bit chaotic at one stage :(
Didn't take any pics but managed to get a run in against a Imprezza (I think)...I whooped his ass..tell them Russ! ..dunno what my time was..think it was 12:?? something ..;)
Was a good day, well I was only there till about 12:30ish. As usual, the drive there was fun. Paul in his Boxster and Lee in his "Standard" CSL...:D
Met Russ just after getting there and then Nick and Andy turned up. Saw Roy and the S/C'ed Banana and managed to get in one run against Nick. We both got off but the newer D did win over me. I blame it on the ICE in the back of mine and the fact that Nick has only got plastic wings...:D (I need to shed some weight.. ).
Unfortunately, didn't get a chance to meet Digs or Ali, but will definitely see you guys soon. I had a great time, just wish I could have stayed around longer and get some more runs in.
I'll post up the few pics I have soon.

Nick got a 14.3 sec 1/4 mile in the 335 against Ali's Z4, Ali got a 14.5 sec on the same run:)
Nicks car looked menacing and got very good times for a diesel :D

Great day out!  Perfect weather and plenty of rubber and petrol burning, or in my case, diesel :p
Here are some of my snap shots .....
Raj and I queing for our first run. 335D is a sec ahead of Raj's tweaked 330D. 335D topped out at 101MPH and 330D at 93MPH.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/SantaPodApril07001.jpg
Lee's blacked out CSL, with plenty of stone chips :p
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/SantaPodApril07002.jpg
Roy's flying bannana, stage 4 S/Ced M3, managing a 12.9 sec run.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/SantaPodApril07004.jpg
Durgesh in his CSL, trying to stick to speed limit .....

Some interesting hardware from today ....

I am pretty surprised by the acceleration and speed my 335D pulled; it's a car that is hard to guage how fast is one travelling in because everything is so refined, only when you look at the speedometer you realised you're actually doing 20MPH more than what you would have anticipated.
My best 1/4 mile run was a 14.088 sec, with a top speed of 101.78MPH. Below is the print out of the run times of my auto 335D against a manual Z4 3.0i.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/SantaPodApril07035.jpg
Here's my run against Durgesh's M3 CSL (the CSL consistently scored around the 13.6 sec mark)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/SantaPodApril07034.jpg
And here's Andy's run against an R32 Golf.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/peppernick/SantaPodApril07033.jpg
It's pretty impressive a turbo diesel can pull that sort of times. And it's still factory stock at 286BHP/580Nm torque. With a re-map to 350BHP and 700Nm, the 335D should shed 3/4 second off it's quarter mile time. Low 13 sec?!! I have never achieved that even with my M3
Here are 2 videos I made with Icecold Andy driving my D, both occasions running alongside an M3 CSL

All you hear is whooooooooooooshhhhhhhh .............. ;) Seriously, the engine note is completely obscured by wind noise.
Great day out!
The 335d is absolutely awesome... what a stealth machine... Serious bags of power, but it also handles incredibly well.
A huge improvement over the E46 in my opinion! :)

Lots of FUN.
I think we are all blown away by the 335d, once that is Mapped, its going to be hard to beat !
Not to mention the fact Nick left me standing on the second half of our B road drive back to the M1. Nick, I never knew you had such big ones ! LOL
However did manage to get my revenge on the motorway... where
3rd, 4th, 5th gear tests, the csl pulled away from the 335d..
6th, they were Neck on Neck !
Again... 335d amazing car!

Twas defo a good day out & nice too see everyone again :) It was a busier than busy day & the lights were dropping double quick but we managed 2 runs each which was good. Believe me getting Roy to that track before the butt crack of lunchtime was a feat of achievement!
Nicks car looks lush as expected (1st time ive seen it), Lee the dark destroyer look is working mate!! Camshaft...how funny are you dude!! rags the nuts off of a 325i courtesy car & shows magnum how it should be done...good skills :)
Ive got a few pics but left my camera lead at the office so i'll update tomorrow :)
Oh & the black vert Roy and I both raced was a customer of ours with almost the exact same set up as the bannana, the difference is that the owner is an ex racing driver so we kinda guessed what the outcome would be. On both my runs i managed to drop a gear change as per usual but at least i beat Roys times :D :D

Cars were looking good chaps!
I take it Raj was a bit late for work this morning............;)
Damn, wish I could have stayed around for the rest of the day. The 335d is definitely a vast improvement over the 330d. Our run against each other was a bit poor as we both did not get a very good start (and it was my first ever time  :D ). I do think the extra weight I am carrying (namely ICE) doesn't help, but even so, the 335d does pull so much better. Once tweaked, the 335d will really be a force to be reckoned with.

LOL ...... I forgot to show you how the D shifts in manual mode when the gearbox is in Dynamic Sport, it's twice as quick and it shifts juts like an SMG. I too am amazed at the poise of the E92 on those back roads but the more you push it, the more it grips. Certain corners there was a touch of understeer but with a slight application of throttle, the rear end stepped out and put the car right in position for a slingshot exit :D ..... and that's with a normal diff!
On coming traffic literally stopped when they saw the black beast charging towards them ........ :D

I'll be re-mapping my car hopefully next week, and will return for their next RWYB to compare times.

Overall disappointed with the performance of the E92 325i.:( Was kicking it in the Dynamic sports mode, but from standstill, it's not much faster than an E36 323 or 328. But when your moving, it will take off like a rocket when you kickdown.
It's a shame the pod don't do rolling starts, I recon the E92 325i would be a different animal:)

Would have been a better day if it wasnt so busy. I only managed 2 runs in 3hours!
My first run was my best at 13.3 @ 109mph. I reckon with some more tuns it could have been i high 12 with out a doubt. The car is definately pushing more power as it showed on the way down when i stuck to the back of a 996 TT all the way to 170! Also neck and neck with and M6 upto similar speeds.
Nice to meet everyone again. Nick your car is gonna be a beast. Definately low 13's to come from that with a remap.
I lost all my Money at Pod somewhere:mad: . So had to get home 200miles on less that half a tank. Managed 35mpg......see its not just you deisel guys:)

FYI .....
justin's M3 vert is another CA stage 4 same as the bannana, and he got 2 runs at 12.8 :D Justin is very good off the line and has a lot of 1/4 mile experience.
our first run was 13.1 then 13.2 then 13.3 then 13.35 i believe ....without sounding like we are making any kind of excuses, reason for these times is that we were there to test and fine tune the racelogic launch control system and not lay down our best times. Each run was made with different settings for comparisons. We wanted to then set up the controller and do more runs but the queues were just too damned long and we got p...sed off waiting all the time.
Now that we have the data we needed, we have reset the launch system and will be going back up there asap, we are aiming for 12.5 ..lets see :)
It was good to see all you guys there anyway, we will try to get to more such events and meetings this year .
all the best

Roy, i dont think the times were too bad. I always look for the terminal speed on a car, it really shows the difference in aceleration between 2 cars.
Nicks were around 102mph
Durgeshs CSL around 106mph?
Mine fastest 109mph
I saw yours it 114mph which is very impressive.
What did Justin get?
My 330 seemed to be identical performance to the 335d, times and terminal speeds.

Roy, I'll be going again to their next RWYB to compare times as by then my 335D would have had the CA treatment  I have already done my best stock time of 14.0, so let's see if the D could match some CSLs :D Traction off the line for the 335D is not a problem because of the very intelligent torque converter, I'm hoping to hit the low 13s with 106MPH.

Was a good day out sorry i didnt get to talk to everyone, i was parked in the other car park
In trying to convince my mate to go on the track i left it to late and was fully booked
So BIG thank you to Roy for giving me his wrist band as he was leaving and bit of tape holding it together done the trick just pulled a few hairs out taking it off  :D
Was bit disappointed with my time though anyone else find it really slippery i couldn't put the power down, only had two runs best time was 16.2 and 96mph think i spun my wheels halfway down the track :o (felt like it) Might sound silly but getting a good reaction time and not putting to much power down is hard :o there is definitely an art to it

Was bit disappointed with my time though anyone else find it really slippery i couldn't put the power down, only had two runs best time was 16.2 and 96mph think i spun my wheels halfway down the track :o (felt like it) Might sound silly but getting a good reaction time and not putting to much power down is hard :o there is definitely an art to itIt was my first time and the marshalls were really racing through at getting the cars on the track, the light changes were quick and I got caught out...definately going back

Reaction times were not taken into account on Sunday. You can pace yourself after the lights turned green. It's only when your car start moving after the lights turned green that the stopwatch begins.

Yeah we test the above out... as I was chilling for a full two seconds, after Andy left the line in Nicks car, but I still managed to get a quicker 1/4 time.
